Would freeze USB mouse and keyboard when plugging in USB 3.0 Hard Drives
I've had this for about two weeks. For me it works ok but with a quirk I had to troubleshoot for. My main issue was that as soon as I would plug in a USB HDD 3.0 drive that didn't have its own power source, my wireless USB mouse and keyboard would lockup. The wireless mouse and KB were not even plugged into the HOOTOO USB brick, they were plugged directly into my DELL XPS 2720. There seems to be some sort of conflict going on with this combination. I tried it with two different portable HDDs and the same occurred. What solved the issue was plugging the USB KB and mouse dongle directly into the HOOTOO instead of into the XPS 2720.******UPDATE*******After posting my review I was contacted by Frankie from Sunnyvalleytek. Since they've seen this issue before he offered to send me a replacement after having it tested to make sure the same issue wasn't present. I received the replacement after a few days of communicating with him and the new unit does not have the same issue! He didn't even need me to send back the faulty unit so literally ZERO hassle for me. This is an example of great customer service. If only all companies would operate this way. So now that I have a fully functioning USB hub, I can say it serves all my needs perfectly and leaves nothing to be desired. Thanks!

MAC USERS !! This one works !!
We are heavy Macintosh users and also work in a mixed PC/Mac office with multiple types of peripherals (disk drives, printers, scanners, phones, and so on). After many disappointments with cheap USB hubs, a few years ago (after reading limited Amazon reviews by a few Mac users), we purchased multiple top-of-the-line Anker powered USB hubs. None of these were reliable solutions for our Macintosh sites (though they did work well for the PCs). We had problems with backups failing, iTunes and other USB discs unmounting at random times, photo uploads failing, and so on. We also had multiple issues with inadequate power to the hub, so devices that were supposed to charge failed to do so.A few months ago we saw an unbiased web review of USB hubs for Macintosh users that mentioned this HooToo model. In that review, it not only came out first, but was (1) the only USB hub that had sufficient power to charge and allow USB connections at once and (2) the only USB hub that never suffered from a dropped USB connection during USB disc read/writes. The last commendation was really the only thing we care about in our office. The hub also has a good build, nice heft and aesthetics, and consistently operates at USB 3.0 speeds. We now own THREE of these hubs. They're that good. In five months of heavy use, we can report no failures. Based on our experience with Anker (and at least two other types of USB hubs we've tried), that commendation seems hard enough to believe that were I not writing this review myself, I would be skeptical. But it's true.A no brainer for us. If you're a Mac owner, this USB hub simply works.

They stood behind their product!
I purchased this unit in February of 2015, using it at my office. I closed my office a few months ago, and the unit sat in a drawer for a few months until I pulled it out to reuse in my new, home office network. For whatever reason, the system just never kicked back in. I was frustrated, because it was out of warranty, and I felt it should have lasted longer. Apparently, so did HooToo.They backed their product up, and sent me a new one, which arrived yesterday, and is in service today, working just fine. I don't think they had to do this, but they wanted me happy, and they believe in their product. It's hard to complain about a company that takes care of its customers, which sadly is all too rare today. I've upped my rating, because HooToo and Sunvalletyec earned the higher rating.

Works great out of the box
I needed this to drive a bunch of devices off my PC computer. Ok, so its a bit more expensive than other USB 3.0 hubs but I can tell you, this one has lots of utility to it to make it worth the money you paid for.Unlike other cheaper USB hubs, this one is shipped with a long 8 foot power cable. This is one of the few that I have found that has the common sense to do that. Its important for those who have desktop tower computers that sit on the floor and you need to run the USB cable up to your desk. Many USB hubs skimp on this part and only provide a 3.0' cable. This is a powered hub, so make sure you have available outlet plug. Also, make sure you have an available USB 3.0 port to attach to. It defeats the purpose of connecting this to a USB 2.0/1.x port. its backward compatible but in that case, you won't benefit from the fast data transfer. The two smart ports cannot be used for data transfer, only for charging up devices. So essentially you have 7 USB 3.0 data xfer ports and 2 charging ports. You could daisy chain to another hub, but its better to just buy a hub with more ports. To keep the hub and cables from shifting on the desk, I'd recommend using Velcro strips placed on the desk and bottom of the hub.

A decent hub but a bit pricey
After a great deal of research, I picked the HooToo hub and I must say I am quite happy with my purchase. It seems well constructed and boasts a clean design. The seperate charging ports function well enough and they are a very welcome addition. I was also happily surprised by the packaging who seemed upclass and very well made. What I would like to see in a future release maybe: The hub is fairly light in weight, as a result it moves easily on your desk & it doesn't feel sturdy. The led indicator lights are usefull at night, but not in daytime since you can't really tell if they are on unless you are looking directly at them. A seperate on/off switch would be very nce to have since it's a powered hub and sometimes you just need to easilly cut off the power to all connected drives after you have ejected them of course. Like this you have to plug out the DC connector which is not the best thing to do in any case. Finally one time the hub stopped working all together and in order to fix it I tried to unplug it and let it rest for a minute or two. That did it but freaked me out nevertheless because it is fairly new. I will update this review after some time, to confirm the longevity of the product. I am using it with a 27" iMac.

Choose the correct USB socket on your computer for USB3.0 speeds (macbook)
It delivers a good speed - but Mac owners should note:On my 2014 Macbookpro the hub showed up (and delivered) USB3.0 speeds from only one of my macbook's two USB sockets (the left one near the power jack). The correct USB socket can easily be found by plugging in the hub then going to About this Mac from the Apple menu (top-left), System Report, then find USB from the left list. You have to refresh the information from the (I think) File menu each time you try a different socket. What you will find when it is working properly is the hub will show up twice: one as USB2.0 hub and another as USB3.0 hub. You don't need anything plugged in to do this. I found something similar on another computer with USB3.0.Initially I was screwing because my ultra fast usb3.0 SSD drive was either not showing up at all or only delivering USB2 speeds (~40MB/s testing in Blackmagic from the App Store) compared to ~350MB/s when properly over USB3.0. The manual has quite a few worrying points such as having to connect directly some USB3.0 hard drives to the host computer - had I not tried a different socket I would have sent it back tomorrow - I'm glad I tried a different one. Also of note is the power jack to the hub is a bit loose unless the plug is jammed right in there.Hope this helps for my first Amazon review!

Reliable, well priced USB3 hub
I've owned this USB hub for a few weeks now. As I'd purchased a USB3 external SSD, my existing USB2 hub couldn't provide the performance needed to make the most out of the SSD.It's not the most compact USB hub, although it is by no means massive. 7 ports should be enough for most users, and certainly meets my requirements. I've not had any issues with USB devices 'dropping off' like I occasionally suffered with the hub that it has replaced. The extra 2 charging ports are surplus to my requirements, but could well be useful for some if you want to charge your phone/tablet close to your computer.

No problems so far!Been in use every day since delivered (on time & well packed). Don't use the extras but bought it after searching on line for the best buy on various web-sites and found this product came up consistently with good reviews,so went for it when my Logitech riser finally gave up the ghost after many years faithful service and I didn't need to replace the whole thing just the electronics. If there is a downside it would be for those who are looking to carry this with them when travelling - the connections include a transformer & plug and leads - but sits unobtrusively on my desk. Even plugged in my Wacom tablet to it when using Lightroom and found no noticeable delay when using brushes - so fine for me and a lot cheaper than replacing the whole riser set-up.

Spectacularly good hub
As USB hubs go, they don't do exciting, I've had a few with extra bits like an iPod dock built in or extremely portable ones, but they all pretty much do the job the same.I changed computers and decided I wanted a new 3.0 faster hub, the charging ports on this were the extra this time and its been superb, the job is done like any other hub, if not better, I've not had to touch it in over six months, the charging ports are the point I love though.
