Viva Naturals Astaxanthin 12mg (60 softgels) - Daily Antioxidant Protection, Supports Skin Hydration & Firmness, Heart Health & Immune Support

First of all, my bottle says each gel contains 5 mg Astaxanthin , not 4 mg as listed in this product information. I just called Vita Labs and the lady said the gels WERE 5 mg, and they have changed them to 4 mg. They are still shipping the remainder of the 5 mg gels. There are so many wonderful benefits of this potent antioxidant. Many people with aches and pains are experiencing relief from that issue. I have osteoarthritis, and my neck and shoulder joints get stiff and achy. With a daily dose of one 5 mg gel, I am more able to turn my head side to side without pain and my shoulder joints do not ache like they used to every morning. I have not noticed a decrease in wrinkles yet (how nice that would be!), but another benefit of Astaxanthin is that this protects the skin from UV rays, a very definite plus for those of us living high in the mountains with greater UV radiation exposure. I also haven't as yet noticed any substantial increase in energy, although I read that many others have enjoyed this effect.The most noteworthy effect I have noticed is that my eyes are not as blury as they used to be. I read that this potent antioxidant reduces inflammation, especially with regards to retinal/macular degeneration conditions. I was told by an eye specialist to take an "eye vitamin" to reduce the age related macular degeneration that my eyes have started. I looked at that product and found that regular consumption of tomato sauce and spinach have more of the same nutrients than are in the vitamins. Research led me to Astaxanthin. I do wear glasses, but after several hours of computer use, my eyes were getting pretty tired and noticeably more blured. Now, after a few weeks of Astaxanthin use, that just doesn't happen any more. No "eye tiredness" or eye strain.I am a regular fish eater, and purchase wild caught Alaskan sockeye salmon from the Vital Choice Company. It's expensive so I can't eat it every day, but one of their 6 oz filets contains 6.8 mg of Astaxanthin! On other days, I take a Viva supplement.Viva Labs supplement contains "natural source" Astaxanthin from the microalgae Haematococcus Puvidis. Viva Labs Krill oil seemed a good choice until I saw that 2 capsules only contained 1.6 mg. I have also learned from my research, aquaculture or farmed fish are given synthetic Astaxanthin to make them look pink. Look for the "color added" notation in the grocery store.This is a wonderful suppliment with the best overall value for the money. I hope everyone who tries it will experience great benefits as the rest of us have!

Please never never never ever change the formula for this product! I never want to be without it, it has literally changed my life. About 6 days in to taking it, my energy levels started coming up. I felt this general feeling of well being, and it improves on a daily basis. I had stopped my workouts over a year ago because I have just felt listless and lazy. I am now working out again and I feel amazing! It curbs sugar cravings and my skin is glowing. I think I have been taking it for 2 or 3 weeks now. I take it with my dinner. Please never change this supplement, I am 60 years old and feel 20 years younger. I know that sounds bizarre but it's the truth! I was not asked to do this review and I rarely do them even though I am an avid shopper on Amazon. This is a quality product, so much so, that I just had to share my experience with it. You wont be disappointed!

Aug 15, 2014 - HURRAY! Viva Labs finally came through in replacing an unusable lump of softgels I received a month ago. If you are interested, you can follow the chronology (below) of what was actually required to receive the promised replacement.THIS IS 5 STAR ASTAXANTHIN (providing the bottle does not get over-heated during shipping, causing all the gels to stick together.) Hopefully, Viva Labs has made sure their Amazon shipper is now taking the necessary precautions to prevent this. Due to my specific experience, I cannot leave a 5-star rating at this time; while I AM very grateful that Viva even sent me two bottles (for the delay) it seems that I had to be quite a "squeaky wheel" to actually GET the replacement.Consequently, I am very curious to know if the other Amazon customers (who experienced the same issue) received THEIR replacements. Hopefully, some of them will soon post their outcomes since there is no other way to know if Viva Labs made good on those promises as well. If so, I would rate them 5+ stars as I do NOT fault Viva for the shipping problem - only that it seems I had to make considerable "public effort" in order for them to follow through.___________July 2014 -- I originally posted a 5 star review over a year ago, as I had been very satisfied with this product. But my recent (third) order of Viva Labs Astaxanthin arrived in a partially melted unusable "lump"...___________It has been one month and several emails to Viva Labs to have them replace the "lump." It was a week before Vivian--the Viva rep who posts replies here, promising replacements--got back to me. She said my email "ended up in her spam folder," but that she would send me a new bottle IMMEDIATELY if I would email her my address (which I did on that very day.)IMMEDIATELY??? It has now been nearly three weeks and nothing from Viva Labs. Zero. Zip. Nada.___________LATER: I posted the previous comment three days ago. Almost immediately, I received an email from Vivian to re-send my address. The new promise is that I will receive the replacement product by the end of THIS week (8-15-2014) plus an extra bottle, due to the delay. That now leaves just one more day for said promise to be fulfilled.The 1.5 star review will remain until the replacement is received. Numerous other Amazon customers have had the same "melting" problem, and the Viva rep also promised each of them a new bottle. I hope they have had better results than I...or if other such "customer complaints" also ended up in the company's "spam folder."For now, I am still very disappointed in Viva Labs poor follow-thru in replacing the defective product I received.

I have tried a couple of different brands and came back to this one.My eye sight got better according to the optometrist and I think it makes my skin glow.
