I bought my first pack for emergency use but when i was trying them for quality i realized these help cut the costs of paper towels since they are reusable. 1 compressed towel lasted me between 4-7 days (handwashing it lightly in between to avoid odors). These are also very big, similar to a dish towel size. They are very resistent. Ive used to clean my stove, my countertops, sinks, tables, etc. and have never ripped.+ I bought a 2nd pack and probably will buy more since they only have a 40 pack to stash away. I highly recommend. You can decompress them with a bit of work WIHOUT using water, or wet them to make it much easier. Wetting them also makes them useful for many things, such as cleaning up spills, wiping down items, and yes using them in place of toilet paper (my primary reason for getting them). They're strong, thick, soft, and when folded once make great toilet paper substitute (they're large enough they can be folded a second or even third time). The smaller version of these is great for everyday use on the trail, while these big ones are great for those occasional bathroom emergencies.If you take them backpacking, know what the regulations are for the area.
