It has a flat griddle on one side and 'corrugated' grill surface on the other side. The flat side is for eggs, pancakes, etc and the 'grill' side is for hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, chicken, etc. **Q: what is the maximum temperature this grill can be used at ?** A: Camp Chef would not recommend using the Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Griddle over 500 degrees.
