The Night Watchmen [DVD]

Sure it is cheesy, but with enough humor to make it enjoyable. Blimpo the Clown and his troupe dies of a mysterious illness while in Romania, and their bodies are shipped to the US for autopsy. The coffin of Blimpo gets delivered my mistake to the newspaper building. At night, there is the night watch, a collection of guards who expect to get through doing very little. One of the employees of the newspaper, Randal, opens the coffin, seeking to steal any jewelry. That unleashed Blimpo and the entire troupe of zombie/vampires. It becomes very madcap, and there are a lot of simply great lines. One of the women comes for help, but no one recognizes her. She said "I've worked here for three years, and we carpooled together". They call 911, but the recording says there is a six hour wait. A lot of it is simply over the top, and also a lot of fun. "Willy, stop being such a baby, you are already dead." And when the vampire is killed, it lets out a terrible smelling fart, which becomes a running joke. Hey, some of the humor is quite juvenile. And there are buckets of blood shooting all over. Yes, stupid but funny.

I thought this movie would probably stink. I was very pleasantly surprised. It was freakin' hilarious. It's similar to Bloodsucking Bastards. If you liked that, you'll like this. Lots of humor about being a security guard, first night on the job FNG jitters, white vs blue collar tension, sexual tension, and vampire clowns. It could have been set anywhere, but being in Baltimore, it could have used more shout-outs to Harm City. I've spent a lot of time in Baltimore over the years and it would have been hilarious to see more famous landmarks and local culture tossed in. Seeing the Natty Bo Man, Fell's Point, Federal Hill, etc would have been cool, but that's just me. If you're going to set it in Balitmore, why not throw in crab cakes and Natty Bo or Flying Dog at a minimum? Non-Baltimorans would miss the references completely, I guess, but those in the know would get a laugh out of it. The only nitpick I have is any vampire attempting to take on Baltimore would have one hell of a time. I think gangsters would nip that in the bud post-haste. The cast was great, the jokes were great, and the premise was hilarious. Watch it with some beers and some friends and you'll have a good time.

it's a horror action comedy. slapstick satire type. i think this movie knows it is a silly joke. it is not as good as shaun of the dead/army of the dead but it is still a darn good movie, if you happen to like those types. and as far as indie movies go, it is def one of the better ones i've seen lately. it mocks many of the cliches. there is humor. i didnt find it laugh out loud funny, but i didnt need it to be to find in enjoyable.if you watch it and hate it, try removing the stick out of your a55 and try watching it again. if you still hate it, make an appt with your doctor to have that bug wedged way up in you removed.i dont think this is a 5 star movie, but i want to help keep the score way up cuz i like it enough that i think others should give this a shot. amazon stream.

Going into this movie, I thought it would be kinda boring and cheesy, but I was pleasantly surprised to be proved wrong. I also think that for being an independent movie, the special effects were pretty great. I had bought this for my dad because he used to work in the building that this movie was filmed in, so he was very excited to watch it (we watched this Christmas night) and he definitely enjoyed it as well. Overall, this is a great movie to watch if you're into comedy horror movies.

Set in Baltimore MD, present day, filmed in Annapolis MD.This concerns a popular clown who was playing a gig in Romania and died. His body is shipped back to the U.S. in a coffin but delivered to the wrong address. The protagonists are night watchmen, except for the woman who is an office worker in the building and someone who the watchmen "surveil" on the interior CCTV monitors. The dead clown becomes "undead" and as usual, creates an army of undead. Only our 5 heroes stand in the way.So it's a comedy. Not "bust a gut laughing" comedy, but somewhat of a satire on vampire movies. The special effects are pretty good, the script is well written and the acting is fine. It's quite bloody and gory and there is some nudity (but not enough).This film is not a serious cinematic production but it'll give you some giggles so it's worth watching.

I would say this could hit the mark If you're under 12, but kids should catch up on the last 40 years of awesome movies (or even 10 years). If you're an adult that really likes really dumb horror comedies, and you've run out of them, then sure, you might like this. Personally, I would NEVER compare this to Dead Alive or Army of Darkness because they were inspired, fantastic, classic movies. This is your run of the mill garbage that I'm embarrassed to have finished.

In sitting down to watch a B Grade Horror/Comedy, you hope for some acting and decent cinematography. This film showed promise, but I feel like they lost their way. Too much of it was easy to predict, due to the cliche comedy involved which distracted from the story. Some of it was downright bad. I gave it three-stars because it had promise. I could have given it lower, but I watched it through to the end, so it wasn't THAT terrible.

Watched this to see if I could find some stuff in Baltimore/Maryland.Film was pleasantly pretty good tho if you like tongue-in-cheek and campy comedy not-really-horror horror movies (so Shaun of the Dead style). There were a lot of funny lines and slapstick.Take nothing serious and prepare toyeself for a silliness and you may enjoy. Really found the Luca Italian character funny.

Horror comedy con pochissime pretese per passare una serata senza porsi troppe domande sul senso degli eventi che determinano la trama di questo film diretto da Mitchell Alfieri che non è completamente estraneo al genere(anzi!). Già, perché questo THE NIGHT WATCHMAN ,non va per nulla preso sul serio,nel senso che è un filmetto per farsi quattro risate E BASTA!. Da amante del genere e incuriosito dalla distribuzione MIDNIGHT FACTORY e dalla cura che questa casa italiana ha per i suoi prodotti ,non ho esitato a prendere la copia blu ray,ma questa volta mi pare che potevano farne a meno. Non che il film sia inguardabile,ma c'è sicuramente di meglio nel panorama internazionale dei film indipendenti( scare campaign solo per fare un esempio). Il film è un miscuglio ( non sense) di vampiri e zombi con qualche comparsa di pagliacci assassini. Per capirci una commedia horror da vedere senza ricercare l'horror con la H maiuscola,perché,mi dispiace dirlo ma io di horror non ho visto proprio un bel nulla,ma molto trash. Tra vampiri MIOPI ,guardie di un'imbecillità assurda e qualche tetta questo film mi è sembrato leggermente sopravvalutato dalla nostra critica specializzata. Detto questo il blu ray non contiene extra e come sempre( O QUASI) la qualità audio e video dei prodotti midnight è alta. Le mie due stelle vanno esclusivamente a qualche battuta riuscita e agli effetti speciali ( forse più il trucco) simil anni 80,eccezion fatta per l'ultima scena fatta in computer grafica che a confronto i film asylum sembrano dei capolavori. Non è questo il genere horror.

ci sta che i film horror possano avere risvolti comici o divertenti, ma questo è un filmetto comico e basta.dura 80 minuti e non ha un momento non dico di paura ma almeno di tensione.per una collana horror una bella fregatura.extra solo il trailer oltre al libretto solito di questa collana.tendo a comprarli tutti ma questo è tra i peggiori della collana.

Sicuramente divertente e grottesco, lo consiglio anche per la grafica, il booklet e l'alta qualità del blu ray ad opera della Midnight Factory che è sempre una garanzia. Consegna Amazon impeccabile come ogni volta

Filmaccio senza capo né coda, dimenticato dopo due minuti.Sempre bellissima l'edizione MF.

Film ottimo lo consiglio a tutti i appassionati dei film horror .
