Black elderberry syrup. Is a really exceptional antiviral. I try to always have this in my refrigerator (refrigerate once opened) and have given it to people with a cold that won’t go away, and have seen it work within an hour. Everyone is different, of course, but if you haven’t tried this, I highly recommend it.

This is my go-to at the first sign of a cold. I mix a generous amount with warm water, and it usually stops the cold from getting worse. I personally find the sweet flavor quite good. ​Tip for parents: My picky 6-year-old son didn't like this original version, but once I switched to the Sambucol Kids line (same brand), he loved it! If you have a sensitive child, I highly recommend getting the Kids version instead. For adults, this original one is perfect and very effective!

This is an excellent product that does everything it says and more. I was extremely sick with a viral infection. My relative being a nurse is a believer in overmedicating with antibiotics for every ailment. I was so intensely sick I gave in and gave it a try. Worst mistake of my life. I'm telling you antibiotics have nothing on natural medicine. If you need to get cured from sickness FAST this is the way to go! I ordered the Sambucol 2 days into my infection and my fever was rising more and more. Two days Prime Shipping and it came. I took the Sambucol about day 4 of my infection as I was getting progressively worse and worse. The very next day I was up, healed, energized and I had no more symptoms. So, this product tastes terrible. I'm not terrifically sensitive to taste, but it's bad. It kind of has a fermented or rotten berry taste to it. Luckily there is no aftertaste. A quick shot of water seems to eliminate the taste. I read other reviews that said it tasted bad, so I thought perhaps it tasted like cough syrup. It doesn't taste medicinal, it just tastes like berry slurry gone very bad. Having said all of this, I recently caught a case of the sniffles...specifically a sore throat. Everyone else I know who had the sore throat eventually got a stuffy head, and in some cases a chest cold. I followed the directions on the bottle for "enhanced immune support" and took 1 tsp 4 times per day. My sore throat lingered for a few days, then went away. I suspect this product may have warded off a more serious cold. I did some research online and found numerous studies investigating potential antiviral properties associated with elderberry (the ingredient in this product). So, I'm sold. I ordered another bottle and am going to keep it around for use at the first sign of a cold. The jury is still out on whether this product actually works, but I'm definitely going to give it another try.

Great product

I am a real human being, seriously. I say that because this might be my first 5* review. I heard about Sambucol from KK.org cool tools. The guy who started O'Reilly media books (I think) said he takes it all the time, although a different brand, to not get sick. He takes it and a whole slew of other sort of not-exactly-name-brand/sometimes-Chinese herbal remedy type things. I don't usually go for that kind of thing, but I had also heard on You Bet Your Garden WHYY (NPR), that elderberries have been proven in some study to have anti-viral properties. I didn't think there was anything that was really anti-viral besides inocculation, so I was intrigued. I have a two year-old and anticipate getting all sorts of colds and probably some mutation of the flu this year. The advice I heard was to take it a lot -- 4 times per day. When I started coming down with a sore throat and stuffy nose and body pains a week or two ago, I ordered this. I got received it two days into the sickness. I took it as directed and honestly felt strangely better within maybe 1-2 days. I took it as directed for about five days and tapered down to once-per-day for a couple more day. I never got sick. Of course, if you don't get sick, you can never really know if you were going to get full-blown cold or flu ... but I'm pretty sure I was. And I'm pretty sure this stuff slammed the door shut on it. I've never, ever had that experience before. I don't believe in the Vitamin C or Zinc or Echinacea stuff. I do believe that if you get stuck in the rain on a cold day, you're probably compromising your immune system and will get sick. I do believe that if you share cigarettes or drinks or swap spit with people, you'll probably get sick. I can almost not believe this worked. But, again, I'm pretty sure it did something. It's expensive but I'll buy it again when I run out. The funny thing is that the study I read about elderberries and viruses named a different brand specifically and also said that studies were inconclusive with H1N1, AIDS and pregnant women. But, apart from that, it backed up everything else I read. And once I started looking around, I see lots of people giving this stuff a high rating. My vegan friends were like, duh, of course elderberries work. We've been using it for years. I'll keep buying this stuff but I'm planting an elderberry tree in my backyard too. Thanks!

Extremely unethical for the business to patch a new expiry date. Received the pack on 5th Dec 2023, but the expiry date is on Jan 2024 leaving us with barely a month to finish. Furthermore, it is haphazardly patched over with a new expiry date which states Jul 2024 as seen in the photos. Packaging is slightly damaged and the bottles inside were very dusty when first received as well.

The bottle arrived dented. There is no delivery date. The product says it is a product of Switzerland but the picture on website says Product of France. Quite disappointed.
