One of McCartney's greatest has never sounded better.
(this specifically refers to the VINYL edition of the ARCHIVE COLLECTION release of Ram)It's a spectacular album - up there with Band On the Onn as one of the top two McCartney solo records. (for the record, I'd call Venus and Mars, Flowers from the Dirt and Flaming Pie as the next three in line)The Archive Collection edition gives Ram an outstanding clarity and energy, not taking away from the original by making it too polished or clear. It's just as rough and rugged as it ever was, just a little fuller and clearer. The vinyl edition, as is always my preference, sounds spectacular and comes with a bonus disc I won't listen to often I suspect, butbcollects all the extra songs familiar from this tips into one place along with a few extras.Well worth the money, despite the original being easily found for $5-10 on Discogs. The improvement in the archive collection is worth it.

Ram on
John and George came out immediately after the breakup of the world's best band, with the Plastic Ono Band / Imagine double and the triple set All Things Must Pass respectively. Paul tends to be forgotten, at least until the release of his new band Wings' masterwork Band On The Run. Truthfully, Paul didn't suffer at all from a post-Beatles comedown as is often assumed. His debut album was slight but still undeniably catchy and great in parts, and the second time around, he hit perfection. I would go so far as to say that Ram is the best album ever released by a solo Beatle. From the gorgeous ballads Dear Boy, Long Haired Lady, and Ram On, to the out-and-out rip-roaring rockers Monkberry Moon Delight and Smile Away, there isn't a weak link to be found on the tracklist, and at least half-a-dozen tunes rank with the best Beatles output. The double LP set adds even more value with the excellent single Another Day and a bunch of quality unreleased moments. Highly recommended.

Exploring the Moods of Life
It's just one of those albums you pop into the player, and you know the next 30 minutes of your life is just going to be okay. Ram portrays comfort music qualities of a Beatles album, yet succeeds in pushing the limits of the styles, moods, and melodies music can offer. Underrated, this album could easily bump shoulders with the likes of the White Album, Revolver, or Sgt. Pepper's.

McCartney... hey he's a Beatle so it's freaking great!
I wore my original copy out. Here's a new version on high quality vinyl and it sounds great and looks great. You know the songs, now experience on audiophile level vinyl for a reasonable amount of money.
