Introduction to the History of Christianity

I really enjoyed this book
Although I had to have for a history course, I really enjoyed this book. Covers the history of Christianity clearly and succinctly.

Truncated version of a great handbook on Christianity.
(This review applies to the Kindle edition.) Many of the interesting and informative essays found in the the First edition have been shortened or eliminated altogether in the Second (2013) edition. Also, it appears that perhaps 65% of the photographs have been omitted, which is a shame because the photographs that are included look great on my ipad and iPad mini, via my Kindle app. The Second edition, as the author indicates in his Preface, is a complete revision of the First edition. Alas, I much prefer the First edition, and wish it was available on Kindle.I give it 31/2 stars overall for the above reasons.

Good fast source
Good quick reference that can answer most questions but inspires you to do more if so inclined.

The index in the back is horrible, with a lot of missing characters and places ...
Decent overview of Church History, albeit with a strange organization. It brushes over a lot of movements without much explanation, while it ignores others. The index in the back is horrible, with a lot of missing characters and places which were important to church history, while often not directing a reader to the first occurrence of a movement/figure.

TERRIBLE ebook
The actually worded content is I guess a pretty good summary of church history. But this is one of the WORST ebooks I’ve never read. Main thing is - it lacks SO many photos that other editions included (which should be an advantage of ebooks, and one of the strengths of this particular historical book on Christianity) and the timeline charts are small ish in size, cannot be magnified and some of them are just SOOO blurry you can’t even see the text properly. This is not the fault of the actual book or the author. But kindle is a REALLY terrible medium for accessing visual information. Do NOT get the e-version of book. I really want a refund....
