Peugeot - Paris Antique Manual Pepper Mill - Adjustable Grinder - Beechwood, Antique, 8.5in

This Peugeot Classic Collection Antique Pepper Mill, 7", in Natural is a replacement for one that I have had over 40 years! The only reason for the replacement was that my 2 yr. old grandson literally threw my original pepper mill across the kitchen, splintering part of the top. Mind you, the mechanism still worked perfectly and we continued using it for the past 6 months but finally the wood gave way and I was afraid of someone getting hurt while using the pepper mill. I can honestly say that the Peugeot Pepper Mill has been THE most dependable kitchen tool I have ever owned so when it was time for a replacement it was a given that I would purchase another Peugeot. So far I am very pleased with the performance, size, color, overall look of this pepper mill I am sure it will out last me (but maybe not my grandson!)

The grinder is great. I bought the 8 3/4 inch and it is comfortable in my hand. I Love the antique look and the classic seems to be less prone to breaking than the U select. Only con would be the Peugeot box was in bad shape but the grinder made it through.

The pepper mill is attractive overall, and it works well, but the packaging was inappropriate for shipping this item. And it looks like the box was already damaged before shipping. The top was loose, the nut wasn’t on the mill, there were peppercorns all throughout the envelope it came in, and the manufacturers box is useless for gifting because it is so smashed up. And there is a split at the top that seems like it shouldn’t be there. I don’t have time to return it and get a replacement because I need it for Father’s Day. I am guessing that buying fromPugeot directly would be better than purchasing from Amazon.

Everything you want to grind spices and nothing you don’t want. Just perfect in every way.If you want to grind your own, get one of these.

The antique finish was very nice—tastefully distressed—the grinder is top notch, and the adjustable grind is perfect. I had previously purchased a Le Creuset grinder and returned it, because it hadn't realized that it was made of plastic! This Peugeot is the obvious winner in terms of quality and feel. I was, originally interested in using a ceramic grinder, but even though this Peugeot has a steel grinder, I have no regrets.

Appearance is reason I order - that, and Peugeot product - It's French made and French utilized; however, when I received it appeared the box has been opened. The top tab was torn off. The bottom of grinder floating around in box. I immediately reordered a replacement with hopes #1 - no tampering with box and #2 that it arrives for Mother's Day. Follow-up to this review will be written when received in perfect, non-tampered condition. It's a beauty and would add class to any table. Update: Second grinder also appears to have been opened. The packaging surrounding the top of grinder with mechanism was torn as though grinder removed and replaced for return. Also, understanding it's wood' there was a big flaw in the wood on back side of grinder. Not a quality piece. Trying again for quality pepper grinder. Update: Second attempt to get this grinder no better than first. Save yourself a lot of aggravation and look elsewhere. Not a happy customer even after several attempts to acquire.

I would get “select”, grinds much better, and order directly from the company. I replaced my old “select” grinders because I gave them to my friend as a gift, and I ordered this one and after a year of struggling using it, I’m throwing it away. It sucks. Doesn’t grind well. Not sure why.

I've used this non adjustable pepper mill extensively. if you want a finer or coarser grind just loosen, or tighten, the top nut. It's far more durable than the gimmicky adjustable mills.
