Gorgeous 4-Shelf Bookcase!
Love these bookcases! I have five of them---three of the tall 5-shelf, one of the medium 4-shelf, and two of the tall, narrow ones. I also have the tall, narrow version in white. (Plus, I bought a set of the matching nightstands!) Not one of these bookcases has let me down. They're relatively easy to assemble, especially if you're familiar with do-it-yourself furniture. Each one took my husband about an hour, give or take. The 4-shelf one was the easiest, since it's short. He assembled it on his own, without any help from me, which should tell you how easy they are to put together. The color is a gorgeous deep cherry wood. Very rich and luminous. There's one shelf that's permanently attached, while the others can be adjusted. The adjustable pegs are clear, so they vanish against the wood. There's a narrow decorative panel that goes across the top, kind of a lip that fits underneath the top of the bookcase. It's a simple design detail, but it looks great! However, it limits the height of the objects you can place on the top shelf. My husband thought it was a pain to install, so the first bookcase he put together doesn't have the decorative panel. I asked him to install them on the others, though, just because I think it looks a lot nicer. (And now my bookcases don't quite match, which irks me deeply. I'm a bit OCD about things matching.)The bookcase includes a safety bracket, which you can screw to a stud in your wall, to prevent it from tipping over. This is recommended if you have pets that jump on the furniture, or young children that might try to climb the bookcase, or if you live in earthquake country, or if your floors aren't level. NOTE: Don't attach the bracket the way the directions show, or the bracket will be glaringly obvious. The bracket is steel, it doesn't match the wood color, so you don't want to put it inside the bookcase, where it'll show. Instead, attach it to the top of the bookcase, where you can hide it behind something, like a decorative box, or whatever. (I looked up a video on how to do this, and it makes a lot more sense than the way the directions show!)I can't stress enough how lovely these bookcases are. My bedroom used to be a disaster zone, filled with piles of books, and boxes filled with books, all over the place. Now I have three tall bookcases and one medium bookcase, which makes the bedroom look very sophisticated and elegant, especially since I didn't fill every shelf to bursting. I left some open gaps, and I put some candles and decorative objects in the corners, so they look really nice. No more boxes of books! (Well, except in the garage. . . .) My bedroom now looks amazing! Thank you, South Shore!Five stars and highly recommended to anyone who needs a high-quality bookcase.

Excels for the pricetag
Though these shelves are, in fact, made of thick particle board with laminate, they are sturdy enough to hold a reasonable number of books with no difficulty. Assembling can be a little frustrating, and, as the instructions let you know, definitely does require two people. The shelves are deep and hold large books well and the shelves themselves can be adjusted to provide greater height for the larger books of your collection. Some advantages:1) The shelf looks fantastic once it's all put together and serves its purpose well.2) It's a good sized bookcase with relatively deep shelves and is especially great at holding larger books for this reason. My biggest complaints really are these:1) With the exception of the centre shelf, which is screwed in place by necessity, the two floating shelves are held in place by plastic nubs (four in total each, two per side). This is really no issue for collections of a predominately paperback nature, but where the heavier hardbacks come in, you might be biting your nails a bit. It WILL hold... but there's always that thought in your mind - "for how long?" I'd've preferred metal nubs.2) The two non-centre shelves really do feel as if they are not capable of carrying the same weight as the centre shelf and because of the plastic clips holding them in place, I feel leery of putting any of my heavier reads on anything but the centre shelf, which makes for some awkward book arrangement. Also, the backing of the bookcase is very thin - just barely more durable that cardboard. That said, you can only expect so much for such a low pricetag. For the US$60 I spent on this, I really can't complain all that much about the build quality. It's more than reasonable for the price.3. The shelves come in pieces from the vendor. It would appear that the producer of the product doesn't really care too much about sawdust, because the pieces were covered in them. I had to take a dry wash-cloth to the boards to free them of their dusty blight. If you have allergies to dust or sawdust, you might be sneezing for a few hours after assembly.

Good price, good product.
Not real wood but for the price the quality is very good. Quite solid, each shelf is rated to hold 15 pounds, comes with bracket and screws attach it to a stud in the wall. Just the right size for my little girl's room, got all of her books out of boxes and off the floor with room to spare. Easy to build (lots of nails for the back though, but that's normal for this type of item). Had a couple extra pieces of hardware included, my item said it was made in Mexico.

Buy it!
Love this bookshelf. It was easy to assemble and has been moved around several times (often full of books) without warping, cracking etc. I even knocked it over once and it was fine. It's sturdy, looks nice and is a good height as well.I'd buy this again, and recommend to anyone.

Stained items bleed stain colour
It’s a great shelf for the price but be cautious, the cherry wood bleeds red purple stain on your hands and it’s advisable to really wipe it down with a damp rag before placing the boards or the completed shelf on carpet. Not sure why it does that when it’s a completed press board unit. But if you’ve got light carpets you’ll want to give this a hard pass. Not sure if the stain really comes up once it’s embedded.Otherwise is exactly what we ordered and we’ll deal with the rest. Easy to assemble too, if a bit time consuming. You’ll need a hammer , a philips screw driver and pliers.
