Not What I Thought: And That's Fine
Fresh off of finding out her boyfriend is cheating on her (with theco-worker whose shift she is covering!), Morgan Mackenzie decidesthat a night on the town would be about right, and good revenge.Unfortunately, as she cleans up before dressing to the nines, herbathtub falls through an interdimensional rift leaving her stranded, naked (but for her loofah), in a very hostile alien forest. Luckily, her bathtub drops on a nest of Giant Eagles leading to her firstcommunication from "The System" that rules her new world:=== She still held her loofah scrubby in one hand, and raised it to her face in a partially successful attempt to mask the stench of the nest with the familiar smells of her favorite body wash products. She looked around in confusion, battling through the sheer shock and surprise of her situation to try to make some sort of sense out of where she was. Her confusion was promptly renewed, though, as within moments of her landing she felt rather than heard a chiming DING! inside her head, followed immediately by two more sensations, exactly the same as the first. Just as she opened her mouth to blindly repeat her utterance, her attention was stolen by ethereal silvery text spilling itself across the center of her sight. You have defeated [Giant Eagle Hatchling (Lvl - 1)] For earning your victory while [Naked] and [Unequipped], experience gain doubled. +40 experience gained. You have defeated [Giant Eagle Hatchling (Lvl - 1)] For earning your victory while [Naked] and [Unequipped], experience gain doubled. +40 experience gained. You have defeated [Giant Eagle Hatchling (Lvl - 2)] For earning your victory while [Naked] and [Unequipped], experience gain doubled. +70 experience gained. As an increasingly confused Morgan gazed slack-jawed at the words superimposed over her vision, they quickly began to fade. As several extremely un-ladylike expletives exploded into the silent trees, an even more intense DING! slammed into her mind like a gold and silver starburst. You have reached Level 2! Health and Status partially restored! For reaching this milestone while [Naked] and [Unequipped], rewarded points doubled. 10 distributable Stat Points awarded. 10 Skill Points awarded. Skill purchases unlocked! (Check available skills through your Status Menu) As interesting as she found these new messages, Morgan didn't have time to properly consider the information.====This is a good but somewhat frustrating book. From the Amazonblurb, I was expecting a romp. It's not a romp. While the situationis set up with dry humor, that surfaces a number of times duringthe narrative, it's not a sex comedy, and Morgan's leveling-up alongthe path of naked combat on which she finds herself is preparationfor the serious task of liberating her new world from the bane ofmind slavery: The biggest offense against The System because itdeprives an individual of a personal story, and Story is The System'shighest value. The frustrating part of the book is that it is largely concernedwith bringing Morgan up-to-speed, before putting her in touch withthe other important characters, including several more world-walkersfrom our reality. This is interlarded with repetitive (though oftenbreezily humorous) messages from The System, and a series of solotriumphs that don't really advance the overall plot. The segmentswe get from the Oracle and the other world-walkers are much tighterand run through *their* System interactions at much less length. In the end, the book's strengths do outweigh the slow build and wedo end the book with all the players on the table, and I expect thenext installment (which I will pick up) to get moving a bit quicker.

An engaging LitRPG story
An engaging LitRPG story in a similar vein to The Wandering Inn series, a bunch of people from our world find themselves magically transported to another universe that behaves in a manner similar to a massively multi-player roleplaying game with classes, stats, and skills. Our primary protagonist, Morgan Mackenzie, had the misfortune of having been taking a bath at the time; so she arrives with nothing but her bathtub, loofah and about 30 gallons of water. She crashes in a tree onto a giant eagle's nest and through a series of panic filled misadventures finds herself with skills and levels tagged with a "Naked and Unequipped" bonus perk which is inconvenient and awkward and pleasantly (surprisingly) it doesn't become the focus of the whole story. There's a lot of interesting stuff in this world and a lot of well developed characters, it was a good story and I'll keep an eye out for the sequel.

WOW, but also hmm
So. She’s naked. Not like sexy times naked, but she doesn’t wear clothes. And sometimes it’s funny. The loofah bit is also funny. but you shouldn’t think that this is just nonstop humor. There’s a lot going on, between pretty massive battles and fights with creatures large and small. There’s some seriously good writing going on. Bits of history and everything coming together in a world of magic. Roman legions and legends of King Arthur.But.There’s one scene that frustrated me to no end. I was seriously frustrated with how many times the main character was asked to do one simple thing and yet continued to not do that thing. Even though it was made clear that doing that one simple thing would make everything better. No drawbacks, no penalties, and it’s something that she was doing just not insufficient quantity. As simple as breathing.Fortunately, that was just one scene. But it did go on for several pages. When you get to it you’ll know. That being said, I am going to buy the next book in the series. that’s my recommendation.

I'll admit I'm intrigued to read book 2
This is a tale that from what I can tell originally appeared at Royal Road. Now previously I have come down very hard on several tales that were written and posted at that site. There is a habit of stories having a severe lack of focus and plot holes can be galaxy sized at times.Skyclad surprisingly avoids the major flaws. Yes, the initial story is about a college-aged woman who after falling into the new world ends up unable to wear clothing due to a quirk in the rules of the world. Yes, that could be used to tittilate and be a source of way too much entendre and smut. Surprisingly, it isn't. Yes, Morgan ends up unable to wear any clothing or equip any item, and thanks to her own decisions that becomes permanent, to the point where she can't hold a spoon to eat. In exchange she is a very powerful sorceress, but she still has to figure out how to use her abilities. It's a wonderful idea, its presented well, and the smut part is avoided. The most that comes out is shortly after Morgan runs into other humans she observes that one of the people she's run into is a bit obvious in his leering at her, and then its ignored. The other characters are legion, and while that is somewhat useful, there is probably too many. That reminds me a bit too much of another web serial I've read that eventually had more chapters about the side characters than there were chapters about the main character. Here the side chapters are kept under control and the story manages to advance smoothly. So I'm going to watch for book 2 and hope the quality keeps up. I have to admit, this book seemed like a pass due to its description of the MC and the fact that it came from a site I have not found to be a source of great tales, but this one is very good.

Well written and definitely more-ish, but if you’re looking for a raunchy tale, look elsewhere.
This is an epic dungeon lit. story which I throughly enjoyed reading. There are many characters and various stories, not all of which intertwine in this volume. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series when it’s available, (In the near future, I hope Mr Browder. Hint, hint!).It’s all about choice. The System of the multiverse doesn’t care about good or bad, kind or cruel. Everything that led you to be what you were, are now, or will ever become, is a series of choices that make up your story. And to the System, the Stories are All!! You may have only ever had shitty choices, (kill or be killed, submit or die, steal or starve), but they’re your choices to make. Four hundred years ago, the slavers of the Deskren empire invented the golden soul collars, which removes all choices from the wearer, as the victim of the collar is compelled to obey. And after four hundreds years of waiting for the other kingdoms of the world of Anfealt, to do something about this abomination, the system has had enough! So it selects a set of random people from Earth and drops them all over Anfealt to stir things up.Morgan was having bath when the System pulled the world out from under her and dumps her at the top of a tree in a forest of the Wildlands of Anfealt. Her adventure begins totally naked and alone, with nothing but a cast-iron clawfoot bathtub and a loofah to call her own. Both of which come to save her life.Due to a series of misadventures as she learns to weald magic while naked and unequipped, she must continue in this sky-clad fashion, or forfeit all the power and skills she has earned. When she travels the Wildlands, au naturel, towards civilisation and the other Worldwalkers from Earth, she encounter the Deskren empire and their soul collars for the first time and her fury at such filth is awoken. And her fury is a hellish and unforgiving thing!

Finding gems.
There’s a lot of people who have a go at writing and do a good enough job. Every once in a while you stumble across a gem. I think Skyclad is one such gem.I was looking for something different from the plethora of murder mystery thriller genera and thought I’d give Skyclad a try. It’s clear from the first few pages that Scott Browder is a masterful story teller.I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait to discover how the story unfolds.

A brilliant engaging and wonderful litrpg novel
Too often litrpg for me is the lazy authors way to write either sci-fi or fantasy. Poor storytelling, bad characterisation, a book that is just stilted and hard to read with little flow and the worst atrocity, overflowing with pop-cult references that come accross as childish and pathetic. THIS IS NOT THE CASE WITH THIS BOOK.A wonderful first book, a true fantasy book with litrpg. Multiple story lines that weave together, interesting and diverse fantasy/litrpg mechanics that are not thnrown in just to make the book more interesting but actually part of the story. All in all an highly enjoyable literate effort that doesn't use litrpg as a means to make the authors job easier but instead to enhance the novels already considerable appeal.Thank you

Great mix of traditional fantasy and RPG concepts
I found this book through a comment on a comic website, read the sample, and bought it before I'd even finished the sample. Many books have tried to implement the gaming ideas of levels and stats into the story and usually it clashes. The way it's used here works, skills gained through actions and practice, and allows some entertaining surprises when grizzled old men turn out to have terrifying numbers along with some amusement as we begin to understand what circumstances have done to poor Morgan Mackenzie, the main character.I was disappointed to find out there's no more yet, as it was listed as a book 1, now I can just keep a hopeful eye out for the next. There is one element that made it a bit weird for me, and that's due to a portrait that hangs on the wall of my mother's living room. A portrait of my great-great grandfather, a grey haired, mustachioed gentleman by the name of Morgan Mackenzie. Every time I read something about the situation the main character found herself in, my brain kept mapping in my ancestor!

Far far better than I expected. Really excellent.
Skyclad led me to thinking it would be light lit harem, or erotic, which I don't enjoyIts none of that at all. The MC sky clad status is a well structured part of who she is and what she learns to to. It sweeps into a bigger more involving tale and yeah, the stats do disappear half way through. This is original in execution, didn't fall down into quasi spoof ever, even though the possibly exists in her pet.Its pretty true to itself the whole way through and you won't be disappointed. Enough progression and skill levelling type stuff early on, enough plot and characters development throughout, it's a nice piece of work.
