Excellent Product That Saved Me Hundreds of Dollars!

I was dumbfounded after buying the newest TV on the market and discovering that it had no RCA output jacks that I needed to use my older home theater audio receiver. I definitely missed the separated surround sound that I was so used to hearing while watching movies and other programs. The only audio output on my TV was digital and way too advanced for my old system. I was considering sending over $500 to purchase another quality audio system when I read about this adapter and purchased it. It was manufactured with excellent quality and while only analog stereo sound, it allowed me to hookup my TV and get back the audio I was used to enjoying from my old TV. My old system was made to provide sudo-surround Dolby and still powers five speakers well. This little device brought renewed usefulness to my old sound system and saved me big dollars in the process! It is a wonderful device that mixes old and new technology extremely well!

Sounds great, easy to set up!

I'll keep this simple:- Metal casing, solid build quality, a decent weight to it!- Comes with an optical audio cable, a coaxial cable and a power cord- Works with a standard 5V USB power supply, such as the one on my TV! Wall adapters should work too, but ymmv.- Analog Volume Control! This might not seem like a big deal, but turning the knob is smooth and the sound adjusts without stepping- Headphone Out is crystal clear!By the way, please take note:If you've never used Optical Audio before, don't forget to remove the little white caps before using this product! Otherwise, you won't get any sound. 🤓

This converter includes a digital audio cable, so I didn't have to purchase a separate one

My elderly mom is in an assisted living facility which (surprisingly) included a wall mounted flat screen television. Unfortunately, the only audio out jack was a digital one. My mom is very hard of hearing and has used wireless headsets for many years. Her current set will take audio from either RCA jack outputs, or the "green" audio out cable like desktop computers have used for years. When I was researching converters, this was the only one that I found which included the digital audio cable, and that saved me from making an additional purchase. The volume of the sound through the headphones is not as loud as I had hoped it would be. I'm not sure whether this is due to the particular TV's output, or the converter; but thought I would mention it since her headphones don't seem to be as loud as when we had them running through the TV at home. Another thing to be aware of is that you have to plug this into a USB outlet for power. I had a power strip that had USB outlets, so took this to her room. Some other products included a power converter, so this could be a consideration. I'm not sure whether the USB jack found on many of the newer TVs would provide enough power to run this converter, or not. I know when I got a Roku stick, the USB on the TV I used didn't put out enough juice and I had to use the adapter that came with it and plug it into the power strip. I just thought I'd mention this so people looking at reviews for help would have more info to consider before making a decision.

Do not underestimate. Clean, powerful amplification for 1 input

I think this thing was less than 50 bucks. I bought a 4x more expensive FOSI amp that almost burned my fingers from the control knob. (plus it looked like a missing panel from C-3PO, which was less cool in person than the images). This was the same output (50W), and a quarter the size and expense. It is rad, and doesn't get hot. AND is louder than the other C3PO thing. The only qualifier is: you get what your source gives it. I have a decent enough table and pre-amp set up that this is a perfect push. But it is not going to correct any issues in your setup other than volume, and it has no EQ function. And if your speakers suck, it might test their limits. But it pushes some bookshelf polks well and without damage - but you can't turn the volume on the FOSI more than 20% before it is LOUD! I am blown away.

Great inexpensive way to convt digital to analog

I upgraded to a larger TV in my family room home theater and moved the TV I replaced to my basement The basement/secondary stereo system I tied it into was a fairly decent (Audio Research amp/pre and Klipsch Cornwalls) which only had analog/RCS inputs. Running to optical out from the TV through this convertor was an easy work around and it performs flawlessly. Does it have a top drawer DAC? Obviously not at this price point, but the sound quality playing concerts on Blu-ray seems more than adequate to my ears

Excellent to use for watching TV with headphones

This amplifier works with the digital optical output from your TV and allows you to take advantage of good quality headphones. I now have 2 of these and I will buy at least one more. It is better than the older one that has the volume up and down buttons that do not seem to put out enough volume. I like the wired headphones because some TVs do not have bluetooth and you do not have to charge batteries. I recommend buying the longer digital optical cables because they do not cost much more and you can rearrange rooms easier if needed. It is digital so you do not loose quality with a longer cable.

Worked for my 2021 Samsung 7 TV. Here's what I did:

What came in the box that I needed: 1) the converter, 2) a USB cable (36"), and 3) an optical cable (36") with clear plastic tips at both ends that you must pull off. What came that is not needed: a 36" coax cable. What I needed that did not come with the converter: 1) the cube plug that goes into my surge protector, to supply AC to the USB cable. And a pair of 18" long RCA male-male cables for the Left and Right AUX inputs of my Sherwood audio receiver. Press everything in securely, Tuun the power on. Wait for the cable box to reload, then change the Samsung settings: Sound/External speakers and also change from the default to PCM. The result: sound now comes through my receiver to my tower speakers. What is not good is that the programs dialog is still not as crisp as I would like and that I can't use the remote control's VOLUME adjustment. (I must use the remote for my Sherwood receiver.) But that is not because of the adapter, which did its job.
