Great quality and look, but a little pricey.
I love bedspreads...that go all the way to the floor and tuck under the pillows. This bedspread totally filled the bill. Well made, perfect size. I don't know WHY people love quilts/comforters - to me the pillows in shams are just inconvenient and they always look skimpy. I love these in every way, but the price was a little steep.

Dimensions need adjusting for newer bed models' heights
Really liked the look of this bedspread, plus the fact that it was 100% cotton and made in the USA was the deciding factor in ordering it. However, I think the manufacturer needs to reset their loom dimensions... My bed is a queen and new, translation: higher profile than the older ones were. I am short so when the bed was delivered, I had the techs make it as low as they could so I wouldn't need a step ladder to get into bed. But it is still probably a good 4-6" higher than the old one was. I wanted an old-fashioned (thin) cotton bedspread for hot summer months instead of my usual thick comforter, and I liked the way this one looked, pattern-wise, so tried it out. Everything was perfect EXCEPT the drop on the sides. The length I could work with: just don't use as much material to tuck the pillows in with. But the width was about 4" too short on each side. And since it's cotton, I could probably count on some small amount of shrinkage as well. I had measured what I needed for my bed, and the king size came closer to fitting, but decided to try the queen first. (And another thing, Maine Heritage Weavers: when stating dimensions, please add an "L" or a "W" to be able to tell which number is length and which is width! Not everyone will intuit that most dimensions are given in L by W format!) Well, the queen size was not long enough on the sides, so returned it and ordered the king. Its dimension for width was only 2" longer than I had measured for my bed. However, when I tried it on the bed, in reality, it was more like 4" too long on each side. So, reluctantly, I have also returned the king size. I really do like the product... just not the sizing. I should also mention that the medallion in the design of the queen spread fit my queen bed perfectly and was very attractive. If only the sides were longer, it would have worked great for my particular bed. Additionally, kudos to Amazon for their easy, easy, easy return policy. That's what keeps me coming back!

Excellent product
I ordered this bedspread to replace a very old George Washington spread that I loved and one of my grand dogs nested on it tearing it to shreds. To be fair it had gotten very thin it was so old. I was thrilled to find this Bates spread made in Maine. The color is a warm cream, it is not too lightweight but not heavy. I ordered the queen and it doesn't go all the way to the floor but almost, you can see a bit of the bed skirt. Very well made, I'm thrilled with it!

Good Quality Bedspread
I've had my old hobnailed bedspread for about twenty years and have always loved it. It's gotten a few pulls over time and has gotten a bit thin. So I have been looking to replace it for some time now. I'm glad I checked on Amazon. This bedspread is made by the same USA company that made my old one! When I opened the package, I was happy to find that the quality of the new one is as good as the old one! The new one is heavier and feels well made.I washed it in cold water and dried it on medium, and it didn't suffer at all. Now, It looks great... I might even make my bed more often! Nah.

Beautiful
We first bought the king size as we wanted the sides to be long on our queen size bed, but it was too big. Easily exchanged the king for a queen and it fits perfectly. Queen size bedspread for a queen size bed, who knew.It is thin in places as it is supposed to be and also a bit nubby, but that is also part of its charm.I agree with the other reviewer who called it hobnail. To me it’s not chenille. Chenille is softer and fuzzier. This washes and dries well, I would definitely recommend, but not if you’re looking for soft and fuzzy.

Well Made
This was exactly what I had been looking for in a bedspread. All cotton, well made, with a nice texture and feel. It is comfortable and adds warmth. The color in the photos tended a toward being light to almost off-white, but the actual color is a rich natural beige. I'm very pleased. The fact it is made in the United States and comes from a long tradition of weaving ads to my enjoyment of it.

The craftsmanship is high quality! Wonderfully light weight for the summertime yet cozy. The design is gorgeous with a small fringe. This is my second purchase from this Maine business and will be purchasing more items from them!
