Florida's Seminole Wars, 1817-1858 (The Making of America) Paperback – April 30, 2003

This is one of the most referred to sources for Second Seminole War research. Many excellent references cited. While there are e-book editions available, there is nothing like having an actual book to hold and flip through. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to do research on or read about the Florida War.

A book to remind us of the futile effort to occupy and dominate the o original people in Florida. As a Seminole descendant, I am proud of the resistance and effort my people put forward. While this book documents the "white" side, it is a clear depiction of the why's and when. Books such as this are starting to acknowledge the contribution of "the people" to America

Excellent, easy reading. I you have any questions about Florida history, Dr Knetsch is the go to person.

This title covers the history of all three of Florida's Seminole Wars in average detail. Illustrated with period artwork, the format is somewhat similar to an Osprey publication, without the color plates. Because the book touches upon all three of the wars, the detail given to each is sorely lacking. This is more of a cursory examination of the Seminole troubles, more suited to the neophyte than the buff. Mahon's Second Seminole War is still the best title for that conflict, and there are other titles that cover the First Seminole War (Heidler and Heidler's Old Hickory's War comes to mind).If the book was not so pricey, it would be a good introduction to the Seminole issue. However, at it's current price tag one is better trying to find it used.

This is a Kindle book, which my husband is enjoying very much.

This book has been a disappointment, dry tough read with far too many minute details and not enough interesting facts about the campaigns and the people who fought them.
