Crates work great in backseat of new truck
We bought two of these for a very specific size purpose. We bought a new Ram 1500 crew cab truck. We have two flat-coated retrievers that are well trained to wire and soft crate travel. The truck has aneat feature that I in particular love. The back seats fold upward flat and then there is a sturdy platform with legs that goes down in its place. We needed something to safely contain the dogsIn the back and fit nicely too. We wanted soft crates so that there would be some give and also to keep hair and slobber a little more contained in our new truck. Thes two crates front to back together lengthwise are the perfect width. We put a couple of foam dog crate pads under the crates for cushioning without taking up room inside the crates. We would not confine our dogs for extra long rides in the crates but for short trips it works great. Living in Texas you need the dogs to have access to air conditioning most of the time especially if they live mostly indoors. One of our dogs is older so we also bought an extra long ramp to help them into the crates. I hope this helps someone with a similar space puzzle. Bonus that the color of the crates is the same as the interior of the truck. They seem very sturdy and well made. Price was not bad either. They arrived quickly too.The height of the crates was also important. We wanted enough where they could turn around but also short enough to not obscure the driving view and to give them protection from being lower behind the front seats and console. These do that well.

FABULOUS
I had a metal crate for my Schnauzer puppy and found it cumbersome to take up two flights of stairs at night and then then down again in the mornings so that my pet would have it available in both places. My dog is a chewer; however, I have plenty of things for her to chew on but was a little worried that she may tear this portable light weight crate up. NOT A PROBLEM! She loves this crate and I love the ease of the lightweight portability. The zippers work well and the flaps that can go up or stay down are really nice in case I need ventilation. My Schnauzer seems to get hot easily, so I always leave the flaps up (except for the front one while she is sleeping it in at night and when I leave her for any period of time) and I place a fan near the crate so that she can keep cool. This works well for me. The mesh is relatively tight so quite a bit of air is blocked. My pet hasn't damaged this crate a bit and she warmed to it immediately. She definitely preferred this to the metal one. I purchased a more padded liner for the bottom but the one provided is fine but thin. It's all a preference for what your pet is more comfortable with. If I had one thing that would make this absolutely perfect - it would be to have a place when an upright water bottle could be adheared. I try to get my pet to drink before she goes in - but she drinks a lot of water and I'm concerned that she may get really thirsty with no water for any length of time. Color is attractive.

Excellent!
I actually got this for my cat. We don't use it to transport him, but he LOVES hanging out in crates, boxes, drawers, behind desks, ect; but mostly he loved his crate and would hole up in it all the time. My boyfriend and i referred to it as his man cave. The last couple years he really hit a growth spurt (he's still young), and he completely outgrew his man-cave (the caged crate we originally bought for my first cat who was half the size of Waffles). I read awesome reviews about this product and decided it was Man-Cave worthy and it has exceeded our expectations. I could barely get it zipped together when I initially took it out of the box b/c Waffles kept jumping on it he was so excited. Since, he spends most of his time in the new Man-Cave. It's more spacious than I had expected, but still fits in the corner of our office and isn't in the way. Waffles loves the faux-sheepskin pad, and is constantly rubbing his face against it (note: the faux sheepskin is ideal b/c it's soft but not too warm, so my cat won't overheat when he sleeps in there in the summer). The zippers zip smoothly and the canvas is really strong. Both Waffles and I highly recommend this product.Note: The image is a little misleading. I wasn't a big fan of how much red is in the taupe on Amazon's picture, but when it arrived, the taupe and brown look like, well, taupe and brown. It's not an eye-sore to keep around the house is what I'm getting at.

Great choice for a travel kennel
We have 2 dachshunds (one 15lbs and one 20lbs) and I purchased a Petmate Portable Pet Home (Medium) for each of them. If you have a dachshund a bit smaller, say 12lbs or less, (my guys are larger than most miniatures), the small Pet Home size would be a better choice, if you are looking for something more snug. I had the same kennel in the past for one of our other dachshunds that passed away, and did not hesitate to buy from Petmate again. The one we had held up beautifully for many years. The quality is excellent for the purpose of this lightweight portable kennel. Keep in mind, it is made of mesh (thicker good quality mesh, but still mesh), canvas and zippers so if you have a pet that is an aggressive chewer and/or escape artist, any lightweight kennel of this type is not going to stand up to heavy abuse for long. These kennels are easy to set up, and when packed are easy to carry and store, they remind me of an artist’s portfolio. My dogs have metal wire kennels as their permanent beds, and though the metal ones fold, they are heavy and cumbersome to move, so we needed an alternative for when we travel or for spending the day at the office. I highly recommend the Petmate Portable Pet Home, if you have a similar need to ours.

My pups safe haven!!
Fast delivery!!! Very easy to assemble, just pops up! It comes with a very new plastic smell so I let it air out for a few days before letting my puppy use it. I was worried my pup would claw holes or bite through the material however it is very strong and sturdy. My pup loves his crate and feels very safe in it, he even puts himself to bed now after 3 days of having it. He panicked a bit when I first zipped it up but after kicking a fuss over it (and I didn't give in) on the first night, it now doesn't bother him. I strongly suggest zipping it up when they take a nap during the day when you are still home so they don't associate the zip only being used when you are absent or at night. Plenty of room for my springer spaniel to grow into.
