Finally, the yarn winder I've been searching for!
This really does the job. It handles 100 g skeins of yarn with no trouble at all, is easy to use, robust and sturdy, and, although slightly more expensive than many of the winders on the market, is really worth the money. I had a more expensive winder than this which was awful, and this one really is a joy to use. Although not pretty, it really does work very well indeed. Please be aware that you'll need a table with decent clearance underneath it, as the mechanism that fixes the winder to the table is quite deep; I have to extend my dining room table in order to affix this and it's still worth all that effort. Highly recommended!

Robust yarn winder
Great ball winder that can indeed wind up to 250 g of yarn (I've tried). It's very sturdy and well made and clamps on to any table top. The only thing I have to be careful of is not to tighten the screws too much, or they'll leave marks on the table. So I just place a piece of cloth between the winder and the table top and that solves the problem. Assembly is easy and winding is smooth. I would buy this again.

Does the job. Good value for money
The winder is sturdy and easy to set up and use. The handle appears a little 'sticky' at times but not enough to make any significant difficulties. The only negative I found was that the arm that you thread the yarn through, which is fastened by a wing nut, tends to work loose and move, mid winding, despite the fact that I tightened it as much as I was able. That's the only reason for 4 stars.

Excellent, highly recommend
This is a brilliant winder from tiny cakes with a little yarn to huge ones - it even made my cut up, knotted together old t-shirt strips into beautiful cakes. The hard nylon cogs are quiet, the metal base is sturdy - I stuck some felt on the bottom just to I can use it on any table. Easy to use - use your common sense, if the cake is starting to look a bit tatty then you need to pull the yarn out to tension it a little more, however I haven't found I need to do this - my yarn sits in a basket on the floor & I find that way gravity helps with the tension. I love it!

Leaves the wool wound under well
Left with good balls of wool but to get them was hard wasn’t sturdy had to keep stopping to make sure it wasn’t knotting up

Sturdy machine which does the job.
A much sturdier piece of kit than the red and white plastic, cheaper model which went back immediately. This one does exactly what it says it will do. Takes a bit of getting to know how to get the best result from it but was soon happily winding EVERY ball of wool in my stash into neat cakes that pull from the centre. Wound DK, aran and chunky and it easily winds 100 gms of chunky with room to spare. An excellent buy.

Great yarn ball winder
My hobby is knitting and occasionally crochet which means there is quite a lot of yarn in my stash. I always pull the yarn from the centre of the ball which ensures a nice steady tension and the ball doesn't roll around everywhere.I own one of the red and cream cheaper plastic yarn winders which has done very well, however it makes quite a loose ball and often have to re-wind the yarn as the ball starts to collapse. I haven't had that particular problem with this lovely She-Lin ball winder as it makes a tighter ball, therefore I don't spend as much time rewinding. For small amounts of yarn I have a nostepinne which I also love and use a lot too.

Excellent winder
I love this, had winders before and they have broken within a couple of weeks, but, this is excellent, sturdy and does the job. RECOMMEND
