Rademaker Hopjes Coffee Candies, 9.9 lb

Liked getting these hard to find candies. Was able to share the wealth as 10 lbs goes a long way.

I ate these as a child and loved them. I wasn't aware they were still manufactured. I bought the 9.9 lb. size (best $ per oz). I'm addicted. And I've turned friends onto them and now they are addicted!

I purchased these to include as wedding favors for guests when I got married. I was born and raised in the Netherlands and because this is very Dutch, I thought it would be a great to share this candy with the American guests. It goes without saying that everyone loved these candies.Although the price isn't as cheap as manually importing them from Holland, it's definitely the most inexpensive way to get them conveniently shipped to you without having to leave your house. The 10 lb bag was huge and more than enough to give 2-3 candies to each of my 150 wedding guests with plenty of candy left over for me to leave around the house. The hopjes arrived in a large plastic bag and shipped in a box. No fancy packaging but I didn't need that anyway.Even though I had quite a bit left over after the wedding, I kept them stored in my house and they've lasted two years now and still look and taste the same as when I first got them. I don't think these really go bad.

Love these. Buying in bulk is better than buying the small packs. Very happy with purchase.

These candies are small which I like since I don't want to scarf down a candy bar that has 300 calories. These candies are about 15 calories each. The flavor is a mix between coffee and cream, which you already know, but the sugar content is not so large as to make you feel the candies are nothing but sugar. You can eat 8 of these candies a day and have no guilt. The hardness of the candies is great because they last awhile and unlike other candies they don't stick to your teeth and torture you for 20 minutes. Geeh, I'm sounding old! But I can't buy the junk from a vending machine at work and enjoy it and most candies are huge in size and calories, so these candies seem to be ideal.

When I was a little girl, my grandparents who were from Europe, always had a bowl of Hopjes by their front door, and encouraged everyone to take a handful and leave with a little sweet. I decided to continue this tradition... and think these candies are just great... I order in bulk, as the price is so much better... and they stay fresh... and somehow every time I look at the bowl, it seems to have a few less in them... I guess departing guests love taking a bit of sweetness with them.

Got to thinking about Hopjes. Do I ordered some. As good as I remember. Also everyone I shared them with, enjoyed.
