And I can't wait to read more in the series. And , I have to just give this author Major props for creating not just a Black woman Alien romance series, but a Really good Black women Alien romance series. It is definitely not enough of those out in the world, and she did it so well. You go girl !

cute.
I’m admittedly new to the world of alien romance but this was an incredibly cute Black sci-fi romance of the alien variety. The premise is that Kwarq, a humanoid alien from the planet Lyqa, is visiting earth when he happens on his fated mate, Amina, and stays to get to know her and see if he can get her to fall in love with him. Amina is instantly attracted and is won over even when she realises he might not be human but then there is a lot of potential drama in any multicultural relationship when things get lost in translation and understanding across alien cultures.I really liked this romance. I thought it was incredibly sex-positive around consent and modeled healthy relationships. It had content that critiqued current systems of social reproduction that are punitive to women in terms of stigma around abortion but also failure to enforce child support and paternal involvement and also the general lack of safety women experience just being out in the world living their lives. I like this series so far and I cared about the secondary characters and definitely look forward to the next book. Recommend!

To freaking cute
For the longest time as I’ve read paranormal books I would imagine how it would be if the heroine was a Black girl. What it would be like during the arguments and her trying to explain terms and culture and AAVE to thousand year old vampires or whatever. I’ve never read any alien romance but this book still fulfilled that…curiosity for me. And it did it in a sweet, romantic, clever, authentic way. I enjoyed everything about this read. Even if Amina was dramatic AF, but what she represented was so honest and real. That’s what I enjoy most about Nikki’s writing. She gives me the fantasy world I like to live in with stories that reflect the love and adventures I wish all Black woman and girls would get

My first
I love paranormal, but this is my first book that doesn’t have a werewolf, vampire or some other preternatural character. I wasn’t sure about aliens, but I would go to lycas and not come back since they are all gorgeous and they are nice people. I loved the insecurities that Amina had regarding her personal safety and her trusting of men. I liked that Quarq was opposite of what she expected, although I was not sure what was going on when his ex showed up and he acted as if Amine was not even there. Ms. Clarke did an excellent job of making her heartbreak palpable both times. It felt like the only thing that kept her from completely fall apart was because she hadn’t surrendered to their love because she was waiting for the other shoe to drop. I recommend this book

Relatively Realistic
Kwarq comes to earth for a scavenger hunt, but finds Amina instead. Amina finds Kwarq to be a little weird, but will she also find love?First off, I have always been BlackGirls/Anybody, so aliens are right up my alley. I also like that Kwarq’s family is phenotypically black, because I don’t know what the sci-fi situation is in Black Romance but more black leads is always a good idea to me.That being said, I felt some of those conflicts were too easily worked through. I would have liked some more world-building, but this is the first in the series. If you think that there should be more black sci-fi Romances, this is definitely for you.

AMAZED & IN LOVE
I have seen this author and her books before and passed them up because of the cover. I'm soo glad I have it a chance. The language was on point for a black women. I've read a few books where the FMC is black but the language is UGH! Her behavior was a little childish for a 29 yr old but overall i LOVED toys story. I'm not a fan of the woman fighting her feelings when there is no reason to. A cute story with mild drama, hella spice, and a lovely HEA. I can't wait to send this to the homie. I'm getting her into the paranormal world and she isn't a big fan of interracial.

Love Amina. She just dives right in. I like that being a woman especially a black woman in society is addressed. This book definitely had me smiling and laughing.I’d love to know the Lyqa life span. Some grammatical errors. Glad aliens were addressed as males but In chapter 7 he says men. Maybe it was just to explain with a semblance of familiarity for Amina. But then he refers to females as Lyqa women.

What a good read.
The author combined IR and Aliens in a realistic way. Yes, Amina was freaked out and reacted like most AA women would, that is on point. I like the promise of a world where love is important and valued like this. A place where empathy and apology for hurt is the norm. I wish I could go there. I loved the emotional growth of the characters and the complete acceptance the Lyqa had for Amina even in her very American way of distrust and cynicism. Already bought the next book. Great job.
