Richard Corman: Madonna NYC 83

This book is all photos and no words. There are great iconic and rare photos of Madonna in it from the 80s right before she hit it big I believe, all taken by Richard Corman of course. Some arrangements of the photos look a bit silly and cheap to me, doesn’t seem like there was much thought put into this book and the arrangement of it and I would have liked to see a greater variety of photos but maybe I’m saying that because I’ve views thousands of photos of her on Instagram. It’s a okay book all in all in my opinion, I expected more honestly but there are a few truly great photos to cherish especially those of her with the neighborhood kids that lived in or near her building at the time. I hear they were very protective of her. It seemed she befriended them so that’s sweet to see in these photos for sure.

I've been a True Blue fan of Madonna's since the very start of her career, so I can never have enough pictures of her, especially considering I believe her to be one of the most beautiful women in the world. I'm really glad this book exists because some of the photos are new even to me. And I appreciate the quality choices made in regards to the hard book cover & strong paper type, which I think will ensure it remains in great condition over the years to come & will greatly help against fingerprint smudges. I've uploaded several images so that any potential buyer has a good understanding of what to expect. There are 40 pages that display just Madonna & are medium to large in nature. Others display a solo image but in a smaller capacity (half the page or less). I counted 20 pages that are either blank, or essentially so, because she is on one side but the other side is just the extension of the shot (so you either see only the backdrop or pieces of clothing in the crease that's spilling over a little). There are multiple pages of a handful of photos that cover the page top to bottom and/or left to right but are rather tiny overall & repeat in a pattern or sorts; for example, 2 certain pages total 96 same and/or similar images of her. All in all there are close to 300 pictures of Madonna : )

Absolutely love this book! Love the early Madonna days in New York and I want to take some of the photos out and frame them. Just love this! Amazing photography

I'm not the biggest M fan, but I do miss the early 80s! This is a very nice, large sized book, photos I had never seen. Several were repeated and then printed in a different style, it's an attempt to be artsy in layout, but I'd recommend it. A young Madonna models those big colorful 80s sweaters, poses with a boombox, with kids on a roof, and in someone's kitchen, etc. Very cute photos.

The book cover is made out of a silkly shiny cloth material and the photos are beautiful,has both black in white photos as well as color. I am impressed with the photography which some of the images of Madonna have been seen previously in magazines and books throughout the years there are many unseen before. This is a gorgeous book of photos from 1983 of the best selling solo female artist ofall time the Legendary Queen of Pop Madonna. No fan or collector should go without this book.

These photos of Madonna are Historic. Photos of the girl before she conquered the world. You can see by these early photos there was something about the girl. She was so young but so self assured - You can see it in her eyes. She was on her way to rule the world. Madonna fans should have this in their collection.

I'm in my 20-s and didn't know anything about Madonna before Ray of Light' era. It's a great fun to see her pictures from the 80-s. Maybe in the US she was more popular back then but in Eastern Europe she wasn't. I still can listen only two of her songs from that period: "Laugh to keep from crying" and "Like a Prayer". This book is good for Madonna fans who can't tolerate her 80-s "Like a Virgin" look. I don't understand 80-s but this book is marvelous. Print, cover, pictures, everything is excellent quality.

Some good photos but not the best quality photo book I own.

She is the star of yesterday, today and tomorrow. You'll find unpublished photos of Madonna from 1983 in this book, while most of the look like being shot in today's true H&M style.
