Excellent Resource
I started using this book for 6th grade with my homeschooled child. I’m pleased with it. It covers a wide variety of geography skills from basic elements on a map to parallels and meridians, regions of the world, and different types of maps. The book presents the information to cover with the student on a page for the teacher. Then, there are two questions per day for the next five days on that topic for the student. I like that the book breaks it down to a manageable amount so the students are learning but it only takes a few minutes to complete. I don’t believe the Teaching page is meant to be given to the student to read since the answers are on it for the daily questions. I go over the information verbally with my child and then have him answer the questions on his own. Then, I go back over the answers with him. I don’t give him the book and just have him do it. I believe the complaints about the answers being on the page are because the book isn’t meant to be just handed to the student. I believe the information is meant to be taught. As a certified teacher, I would love using this in a classroom because there are “teacher” pages with the answers right there and student pages. Excellent resource that I’m having fun with in my home classroom.

Easy, short and sweet
The book is set up for weekly lessons. You can pull out the pages and color the map of the week-or not. There is a few paragraphs to explain the map. Then, under each day of the week, there are two questions for your student to answer. Sometimes we answer all ten questions in one sitting. Sometimes we take it one day at a time. It only takes about 5 to 15 minutes a day to do (if you don't spark a conversation or get curious about something and go on a researching side trip, which isn't a bad thing). Finally, if you want, you can have your youngster do the challenge question or activity listed after Friday's questions. To me, it seems like I am just slipping a bit of knowledge into my son's brain painlessly-thirty six sets, of bits, of knowledge. I think the book is meant to enhance your regular geography program, if you have one. I use this book because I am unsatisfied with the way our history book teaches geography. A lot of local street mapping is never covered in our history books. This book gives a more thorough look at a variety of things maps are used for.

Nice geography book for sixth grader
This is not the best for the price, but it’s a pretty good tool. You should elaborate and add more information or do some online information, or you could just have your child follow this book and cover geography for the school year. It’s simple and easy to follow

We have thoroughly enjoyed this curriculum
I have used Daily Geography Practice with my daughter since Kindergarten level and we are just about to start the 6th grade book. We have thoroughly enjoyed this curriculum. Each week you learn about a certain map, then you have 5 days worth of questions about the map. It is normally 2 questions per day. We tend to do half the questions one day and half later in the week. If it is a subject she already knows well, we may do all the questions in one day. It is laid out very well and the maps cover a large variety of subjects, from water ways, road maps and city maps, to hemispheres, projection maps and mountain ranges. The answers are included for each lesson, but they are on the same pages as the lessons. In all, the book has 36 weeks worth of lessons.

Great resource for homeschoolers
I am homeschooling my two, seventh grade daughters. I have been looking for a really informative yet fun geography workbook all year and finally found it! In the first 10 weeks alone, they have learned about all the different kinds of maps, how to chart coordinates, as well as beginning to identify major countries, cities and oceans. The book is set up with only two questions per day, but we do a weeks worth of questions every day. It only takes about twenty minutes and both girls have declared it "fun.". The only thing i would change is the answers are in plain sight and my girls have to purposely avoid looking at the answer key in order to not cheat. The answer key needs to be moved to the back to be more helpful. I think this book is a great resource for 6,7 & 8th grade students who want to firm up their knowledge of world geography before moving on to high school level material.

HIghly recommend
If you teach with standards that focus on both explicit and implicit reading of graphic information - this is the book for you. I love it. Wish it had more on Africa, especially, has nothing on Asia and Europe, a bit more on US and Latin America so maybe the assumption is this is for that population, but mine could really relate to hearing and learning more about Africa in particular. Some pages unnecessary like random states - Utah or Missouri, Washington, DC? But they also have fun stuff like basketball teams by state. Really good all told.

Good Geography resource, alignment with national standards.
I bought this book to use in my 6th grade classroom in a middle school setting. For years I had been using a program called "Daily Oral Geography" and wanted to try something different. Overall, I like the material, but much of it is too easy for my students. There is not much opportunity for them to use the classroom atlases, which is a big plus with the other program. I plan to use this as a supplement to the "DOG" program I have been using. I don't really see it as a stand alone for regular geography lessons. I do like the alignment with the National Geography Standards and the use of National Geographic's 5 Themes of Geography.
