REVIEW CHANGED FROM 1 STAR to 5 STAR Item works perfectly as advertised after replacing batteries. The batteries were were defective and too small so they popped out of the tray. That was the entire problem all along. That is why nothing worked. The batteries were 1-2 mm smaller. So this was defective batteries the manufacturer was getting rid of. If you have the same problem just replace the batteries and everything will work. It's a great item and does exactly as advertised. I use this with a real camera system and it looks great at night. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Electrical manufacturing defect. Battery tray defect. No circuit connection OR Defective night sensor. The unit is defective. It does not work in "minutes" as advertised. You must remove the back cover held by a screw to install the 2 batteries. The batteries immediately pop out - because the tray and connectors are defective. The batteries do not stay put with the cover on. There is no way to make the batteries stay in the tray. You could add glue on the batteries. But there is no anchor. And even when the batteries are held in with the unit there is no electrical connection. No red light. No green light. The only reason I purchased this is because there is a green night light on the keypad! I tried contacting the seller and there is no reply. I expect a replacement or refund to be issued immediately.

This thing is great but in my opinion they need to make it so you it just has the slowly blinking red led. It does not need the full lit keypad. The keypad being lit drains the battery. Batteries would last a long time if it only powered the red led. Or make it so the keypad lights up only after a key is pushed.

For a cheap keypad device this looks great. I mounted it on the wall in my front entry, next to the door coming in the house from the garage. It blinks a red light during the daytime, then the keypad lights up green at dusk until dawn. I really don't think that the keypad light justifies the possible battery usage, it would be just as effective using a constant blinking red light in our application, but I will return to edit this review if the batteries die quickly. This is for a vacation home in an area without internet, and we aren't around for weeks at a time. (added, new batteries lasted for 10 months.

I did have an issue, as other reviewers have had, with the supplied batteries being pretty useless. Might be old stock or just cheap. Otherwise this has been a clever little keypad we put on our RV door. I used some heavy duty hook and loop fastener to let me take it off easily for storage. I have had this on the outside of the RV door for about 2 months, in all kinds of weather and it is still going strong. The little red light blinks when you approach it in daylight and the green keypad is lit at night, all the time. I wish the full keypad light would react to motion and turn off after a minute or two to save battery but they haven't run down yet and all is well so far. Overall it gives a little extra feeling of security and perhaps it will deter curious people. We are happy with it.

When I took this item out of the box and put a battery in it, it did not make any noise or light up when the keys were depressed, so it is either defective or was broken in transport. It is too inexpensive to go though the hassle of getting it to a ups store for replacement and still looks like what it is so I mounted it on my shop as a deterrent to would be burgarlers.
