This is a case for the NEW 3DS XL. It will NOT fit other versions as they are different sizes, and have a different layout for the ports (charging, game carriage, stylus, headphone). For those saying "it doesn't fit," I looked into which 3DS they had (one review mentions the 2DS, other mentions the 3DS XL) It ONLY fits the NEW 3DS XL, just like the kind I have and can be seen in my photos. If there is an additional thumbstick in the upper right corner than that is a good indication that is is the NEW 3DS. It will NOT fit the 3DS XL either, as there are slight differences in the systems with regards to where the ports for everything are. I got the crystal clear as I wanted the SNES look of my 3DS to show. installation is not difficult, though understand you may need to apply a bit more pressure than you think at first, for fear of the case cracking. It didn't crack on me, and can also be removed if needed (I had to access the micro SD card after putting the case on, and I was able to detach and reset it without any issues). It does not interfere with the hinges, nor the any of the buttons. The hinge less design, in my opinion, is ideal as it is one less thing that can break. It also keeps the case slim, and will still fit in a carrying case without the need to get a new one as it doesn't make the system too bulky at all. The only down side is not due to the case, but due to the design of the New 3DS XL. The only access to the micro SD card is by taking out the two screws on the back and opening it up. The case here covers the back, and would have to be removed in order to access the micro SD. However, if you do not frequently need to access the card, then this is a non issue. Overall, this is a GREAT case if you want to protect against scratches and small drops, and still want your DS theme image to show (like the SNES one). If you are looking to get one, just make sure that you have the correct model 3DS XL. I plan on ordering a second one for my son's 3DS so his Pikachu case image shows, and can have some protection against it becoming scratched or damaged.

Recently found my Metroid edition New 3DS XL which I bought on release. I basically just bought it to play Metroid. I wanted to make sure to keep it in pristine condition and this case works great. Perfect tight fitment and covers the shells well. I decided to add custom firmware after learning how easy it was to mod. Decided to load up some games and play so the case has been working well at protecting the shells. Doesn’t add much bulk and all ports are accessible. Nice and clear as well.

Sadly mine came with a bit of scuff in the corner and at the edge of the top part from where I assume they cut it. But all in all, I’m very satisfied with the quality and the clarity of the case. Now I can cover my 3DS in Dorito dust and not have to worry about it. My only warnings would be to be careful as it’s a snug fit and to make sure you’re in a dust free environment when you put the case on. It’s like a screen protector in the sense that dust and debris will stick to it when you first unwrap it. Pros; - Very sturdy quality, it will certainly protect your 3DS from a tumble. - Allows for customizing your 3DS even further, stickers, paint, you name it all without degrading your actual 3DS in any way. - It’s very very clear, I was expecting some opaqueness but they are just as clear as the previews. - It feels like they aren’t even there sometimes, they hardly ever get in the way of gaming or everyday use. - Very simple to take on and take off, just be careful. Cons; - It is very prone to scratches. I simply wiped it with a cloth and suddenly there were lots of micro scratches. Not a big deal unless you’re looking at it under intense light. - The fit is so snug I’m almost scared to take it off, I’m worried I might damage the sides of my system. - The new “hingeless design” is very nice but it leaves the back very exposed. I suppose it isn’t a huge problem but for me I’d like the entire DS to be protected as much as possible. - Mine came in a bit scuffed.

Was a pretty tight fit on the NEW 3DS XL. Does what its supposed to do and protect the main face of the 3ds. Does not offer any protection for the hinge so be aware. Access to the games and other ports are not an issue.

This is not as protective as it claims to be i hadba accidental small drop on concrete and the whole bottom part of the case came off and scratched both the case and the shell for my 3ds xl and also the top is not a perfect fit for my ds

This will only work on the "New" 3DSXL model (don't buy it if your 3ds doesnt have "new" above the 3ds xl/ll logo on the bottom as that is a different console to this one). If my N3DSXL wasn't already a bit scratched up I would be hesitant to put this on it as it is a tight snap on to the console, but it works great! Very snug. The side between the hinges is mostly open which is great as I can access all the ports etc (my N3DSXL has an extra modded port in the back so this was a key reason I purchased it). Works great and perfect to slap stickers onto.
