Far better quality than I was expecting.
The last time I got pulled pork in BBQ sauce out of a tin, it was fairly dire. It didn't taste of much, the pork was of poor quality, and the sauce was even worse. Unsurprisingly, that particular manufacturer didn't have that item on sale for long.Therefore I was a bit hesitant buying this, especially given it's a higher price point than some other canned meats.I was pleasantly surprised. The overall quality was far better. Yes, the taste of the sauce is the dominant feature, as you'd expect from a BBQ sauce, but the pork was recognisable as such, and these cans are going to make a nice addition to my camping and emergency winter weather larder.The only thing it failed on was heating instructions. In the end I blitzed mine in the microwave, wary of the fact BBQ sauce often has a high sugar content. Sure enough, the edges of the meat had to be watched for burning, however, with all BBQ, a slight cruncy edge is never a wrong move in my humble opinion. 😉 But just keep an eye on that, because it can soon go too far the other way and end up tasting bitter.It was very rich, so you certainly don't need the cans to be any bigger.I hope these will be available for a while, because I will be using up the ones I have already purchased, soon.
