Not made from wood. Came with only 4 screws
The product is high quality. However, I wanted to purchase a wood light switch cover so I can easily trim it to shape. There is also a metal plate on the back that cannot be detached which makes cutting it difficult. It also came with 4 screws, not the stated 6.

Definitely an off white color which I expected after reading the reviews but it's not terribly noticeable. The biggest con is the intense smell it gives off. It goes away after a few days though so I let my others "air out" in another room before putting them up. I was replacing some 1, 2, and 3 switch plates and bought some from Walmart but then some from here because they appeared nicer. The Walmart ones are definitely bright white but don't look as nice in comparison (see photo). These have more dimension and lines, while the Walmart ones are more flat and the plastic appears cheaper.

Not pure white
Just a warning -- I ordered 3 Brainerd switches - a double, a single/slider type, and a single duplex outlet. All of them are what I would call off-white. NOT pure white-white - which is what I was hoping for. I'm using them, but I really wanted white-white to match other things in my bathroom.

No Screws
It is not white as described. It is cream. I have the exact same ones in my house and I compared it to them. Additionally, it did not come with screws. I would expect this to not only come with screws, but white screws. I returned the item.

Spacers Required
Dunno...They are as shown, but my husband had to put spacers on all the outlets so the switches were raised enough to use. At first I thought maybe it was our outlets, but nope. Took them to The Depot and couldn't find any outlets or switches raised like them. What a pain.

50 Shades of White
Some reviews state the 'white' is not really 'white' & have given this switchplate a low-star rating. I have to ponder however: how do you define white? In physics, white is not a color because it has no specific wavelength. It contains all wavelengths of visible light. It's not defined as a color because it's the sum of & reflects all possible colors. Hundreds of hue combinations exist.Ok. So even when used to simply define white as a pigment color, it's really not simple at all. It leaves room for individual perception & is subjective- conjectured at best & needs further description or inquiry: snow white, milky white, off-white: (blue, gray, yellow?), decorator's white, etc. And if an exact pigment of white is needed & the descriptor is vague we should prod further. I mean even "basic" white for doors, trim & ceiling varies, & then varies with manufacturer.Point is, if we don't take this into consideration does it warrant a negative review on this aspect alone? Perhaps. What is this star-rating guide based on anyway? It's subjective. How many stars to take off or not take off- also subjective. IMO, I clearly see a white color differentiation in the picture simply by its contrast against the background. So its color in person held no bearing on the superiority or inferiority of the product itself with regard to design, quality or durability.I would attempt to further describe this white pigment as an off-white, but not gray- more of a creamy- like a melted buttercream or eggnog. Shabby-esque. Almost "Designer White" in comparison to a famous label paint swatch. Overall, I respect its tonal uniqueness. An instant upgrade to boring, run of the mill, cookie-cutter switchplates.Inside scoop: If you use a power drill & it slips or you over-tighten, it seems the paint on the screws chip easily. I also scratched a switchplate that way. This affects it's durability in my opinion. But once on they've held up well, no further durability issues & easy to clean.Update: The raised architectural design in the duplex outlet configuration makes it difficult if impossible to plug-in say, air fresheners or some phone chargers, especially if you don't want to take up both outlets. You'll have to use an extension cord or power strip in some cases. I apologize for the lighting in my picture. It makes the off-white look... off, off-white
