Perfect for the small engine do it yourselfer!
No need for a 12 volt battery with this tool. Just attach the inductive pickup to the #1 plug wire and go. The light is bright enough to see timing marks in all but the brightest sunlight (who works under the blazing sun anyway if they don't have to?) and the rubber coated light emitting end avoids scratches if you bump the end of the tool against the work piece. Perfect for small outboard motors where correct timing is essential to long service life. If this ever breaks I'd buy a replacement the same day. This is a must have tool. This model has only the pickup wire to worry about - way better than my old version which needed to be connected to a car/boat battery with another set of wires and clamps. Nice product.

Versatile
Very handy when you have older cars with 6 volt systems as well as modern 12 volt systems. Could be a little brighter, and the flashlight feature isn't much use.

Don't think it works.
I can't seem to get this thing to work. The test light button works but does not blink when I try to use the timing light.
