Used it as a 3/8" Chevy sock
It comes 5/16" so I used a razor knife to carefully cut the sock close to the opening. Then pulled the sock all the way back and cut the tube off using a small blade hacksaw. Made sure is was clean inside and used a good quality hose clamp to attach it to the 3/8" tube on the sending unit. I made a small flare with no sharp edges on the tube opening. Done this before and they stay on if you use a good clamp.

Works on dj5
Worked well in 76 DJ5. Was a tight fit on pickup tube but after seating it on all of the way worked perfectly.

hole is loose on a 5/16" OD tube
I needed to cut a shim from a soda can and wrap it all the way around my 5/16" OD fuel pick up tube to get this filter to fit and it was still not super tight. This would probably fit a 3/8" OD tube.
