Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra 750ml - Cedar - 428 Extra

I purchased the Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra 750ml in Cedar for my wooden pergola, and I must say it is the best oil I have ever used! Not only is it waterproof, but the color is absolutely stunning. The picture truly does not do it justice. I applied it to a light grey surface, and even then, the result was remarkable. I can only imagine how much better it would look on a different base color. This oil provides excellent protection against UV damage and enhances the natural beauty of the wood. I highly recommend the Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra for anyone looking to protect and beautify their wooden structures.

No idea if this will prove to be durable or value for money but decided to go for a premium brand and I'm pleased with the ease of applicant and coverage. It brings out the natural grain and colour of the wood and gives it a very slightly just wet/drying type look which is pleasing to the eye. Our pergola and deck is south facing so time will definitely tell if this product does actually provide protection from the UV. I've put on one coat which seemed to be enough and nearly used 2.5l on a 3x3 metre deck with a based pergola structure.

As someone who spent their childhood yacht varnishing our boat's deck at the end of every summer this stuff took me right back. I recently had a horrible time trying to work with some water based product on a small greenhouse as it just didn't handle properly and the second coat went cloudy despite drying between coats, I ended up sanding it back and thought I'd have to go to a chandlers to buy some under the counter, non EU approved oil based product. Bought this instead, it doesn't smell too bad and doesn't seem to be full of nasties.For people unused to real oil based yacht varnish you might find it strange to work with. It's runny and spreads. Just go lightly with the grain and don't over apply it, I only needed two thin coats and my greenhouse looks like new despite taking a battering over the last 5 years.Still got half a tin left, depending how it looks at the end of summer I may give it another coat but so far it looks tough and well protected. It dries almost clear with a soft sheen, might do my front door too as a little goes a long way.Wish I'd bought this first. Whomever came up with the idea of water based yacht varnish has obviously never tried using the stuff. This, by comparison, works, whether for your yacht deck, greenhouse or anything else.

Easy to apply. Used it on a boat hook pole and it repels water well.

Used this before and it is an excellent product, this was our second can. It is expensive but you get what you pay for and it does a good job. A can goes a decent distance and gives good protective coverage, raindrops pool on the wood. I would buy again.

Perfect colour wood external slat wall panelling! Picture shows just painted look after one coat. A little goes a long way. So far, so good!
