Not too expensive, works as it should

It it hard to get the tap to sit square in the end, it always want to lean to one side or the other, so fitting a tap take a bit of time.But when it comes to hard to access threads on a car engine that need cleaning up it has proved invaluable several times. Half an hour fiddling with it to get it set up right beats spending 4 hours plus removing the part with the damaged thread, and the hundreds of pounds sort of gaskets needed to reassemble.Also. The handle at the top is not fixed, so you can do half a turn in, half a turn out, half a turn back in, and then push handle through, so if access is obstructed, you are fine.

I bought this to tap some threads into some 20x40 Aluminium extrusion for a new 3d printer frame. I had read a few reviews for other cheaper tap sets and they all said things about how when they got it the taps managed one or two holes when tapping aluminium and then went blunt and couldn't do any more. That is not the case here. This set has done all the tapping that I needed and the tap it self looks good as new. No issues or signs of going blunt at all. Take note, there maybe cheaper ones out there but they will go blunt, this one is a good hard wearing tool. I learnt my lesson regarding this with cheap drill bits I bought as I snapped about 8 trying to drill out the holes in the aluminium frame that I was looking to tap.

I'd previously purchased a cheap Tap & Die set which seemed to be made out of a soft metal that became absolutely useless after the first use.This is definitely not the case with this product.The handle(T-Bar type of thing) feels solid in your hands and the directional rachet is so helpful and makes it a breeze to use.The Taps themselves are made of high quality alloys and have plenty of strength and durability.They are a great addition to my toolbox :D

Excellent little tool for what I needed it for Probably not suitable for bigger jobs but have no regrets

It's sort of OK, but the little switch that sets it to forwards, reverse, or lock, keeps slipping out of position.

Working with 3D printed parts I often find myself wishing I was able to tap these smaller holes rather than using nuts - this thing was the perfect solution. Just a word of advice, the T-handle device is not to scale in the main photo, and actually measures a good 24cm (~9") but is a solid bit of kit.
