Dell - Inspiron 15.6" Touch-Screen Laptop i5 8GB Mem- 256GB SSD

First laptop arrived Dead On Arrival, talked with Dell support and it was a failed motherboard. Left side of the bathtub reliability failures happen even with the best companies. Sent it back and reordered the same item.The second unit fired right and I did the initial Windows setup. Then added programs and customization for another hour using only the kbd and touchpad. I'm liking the 15" screen better than my old 13" a lot. Then tried the touchscreen and determined the Dell i5 5584 I received doesn't have that feature per the attached screenshot.The laptops I received from S&Y did not match the Amazon product photos. The keyboard backshell is silver/ not black which is acceptable. It also has silver/ not black keys with white letters that are hard to see under normal lighting and the white backlight does not help very much as there is insufficient contrast.Amazon support was great in both cases and we determined in under ten minutes in both cases to return the PCs.

Backlit keyboards are something not only advertised in the description of this laptop, but there's a lot of problems with whatever idiot uploaded this product. My laptop was in 's' mode, which wasn't what was advertised anywhere in the description, and it was a pain in the rear to get out of. It's a really good laptop, for sure, but I'm gonna keep it at a 3 star rating until they fire the idiot responsible for messing up the description. The processor only goes up to 1.80GHz, not the 3.1 that was advertised, unless I'm not seeing where it says that, but I am looking at the general information about this laptop. Also, for a company like Dell, the description is awfully written. What does, "mobile Processor smart dual-core processing preformance" even mean? There's over 11 spelling and grammar errors in the main description alone, so it makes you wonder who's actually writing this.Besides the lies, it's actually a good laptop. The touch screen is nice if you like a dirty sceen, the only complaint I have with it is that it feels a bit sticky, even after it's been cleaned. The laptop is decently fast for what it is, and I'd recommend getting it if you're looking for something a bit better than a Chromebook.Still, I can't get over the fact that I was promised a backlit keyboard and didn't get one.

I love this model. Sub $400 with an SSD and Intel i5 - gen 8. Bitlocker works with the Windows 10 version shipped. The wi-fi antenna with the gen 8s is super fast - 80 on speedtest.net. I have a bunch of the 2018 model at home, the road and my office. The 2019 is even better.The bad reviews about not getting windows 10 are wrong. Just click troubleshoot activation and t activates - no problem. The do the procedure for removing wins 10 S from the ms store. A pain, but it DOES work,

Comes with Windows 10 S, when try to activate requests a Product Key Code which Microsoft sells for $139.-

I loved the computer. When I received it I paid a computer tech to set it up for me and make sure that everything was working right. Added my printer and started using it. After about two weeks I had a problem getting it to turn on and had to get the tech to help me. Then it worked fine for a few more days before it happened again. After the second time I was afraid that there was an issue with this machine so I contacted Amazon and they recommended that I return it before my chance to return expired. I am now waiting for my money back. I loved the computer and it had everything I wanted, but was not willing to take the chance of it breaking after the return option and then having to send it back to the manufacturer. I assume this may just be this one computer.

As many others say, does not come with a valid product key, need to call Microsoft and get them to get you out of Windows 10 S, or it works just like a Chromebook with you being limited to programs on the windows store. Good laptop once you get through that problem

It's so fast, easy to use, and looks great! I use a wireless keyboard and mouse, so I don't use the touch screen features.

I would give this machine ZERO stars overall if that was an option. This machine operates in “S mode” which limits what applications can be used. A pop up informs that you can download an app from Microsoft to do the same thing. THE DOWNLOAD OF WHAT I NEEDED DID NOT WORK. I tried at least ten times. The only way to get the application to work was to PERMANENTLY remove the s mode (which was not recommended). Who decided that it was a good idea to limit what is safe or recommended for the end used to install in a machine they purchased?
