Seems accurate if used correctly
Found the strips easy to use. As directed, 1/2 c of distilled and 1/2 c of soil...mix...wait 30 minutes. Swish just inside the mixture and shake off. I have 2 different gardens and I got a 6.5 on one and a 6.4 on the other. I will use periodically throughout the growing season, too.

Fairly Accurate for DIY
I needed to know the ph of my soil as I just had landscaping done and also planted a gardenia on my own. For the gardenia, it has specific ph requirements and I didn’t want to pay a lab for just one shrub. I think it works well, if you follow the instructions, you just have to be patient as there is some time to wait for results. Reading the results was a little tricky because you have to compare results to examples provided. I was able to do it, and I’m glad because I don’t have to treat my soil. The kit does give some recommendations if you have to treat your soil. Works well for a DIYer. If you need more certainty, might want to send to a lab for exactness.

Easy to read!
For the beginner, expert, and pro Gardner, these strips will help you determiner the ph level of your soil. They are easy to use and come with a chart to match up the ph level. When you store this item, make sure your chart is sealed in a zip bag to protect from water and sun exposure. You must have the chart for future use. This was a fabulous investment for my gardening!

Finally I have a test for accurate pH in my soil!!
I tried several meters to test soil pH and they weren't accurate. So I decided to try these pH test strips from Garden Tutor. I finally got an accurate reading. It was hard to determine some of the shades of color against the bottle so I put the test strip into the guide and sent it in to Garden Tutor. Within a few minutes my test strip had gone though their computers, read my strip and sent me back an email with the exact pH. Finally I have a test for pH that I can count on to be accurate. I give Garden Tutor 5 stars for great work and results within minutes!! Thank you. Betty Chase

Hard to read at the acidic end
I got these strips to test my peat moss I got from the garden store, to make sure it was actually acidic, for planting blueberries in. Unfortunately, these strips are very hard to distinguish at the acidic end (ph 3.5-5.5). Even the middle rang (6-7) isn't great. The alkaline end is pretty easy to read, as the four rows each vary quite a bit in color in that range. But if you're trying to read acid, you're basically only going to be able to go off of the top blue-green row - the other three appeared to me to be virtually identical from 3.5 to 5.5 ph. And this despite the "acid" end covering a full 2 ph range, while each of the other two ranges only covers 1 and 1.5 ph change. So the scale with the most range has the least color variety. The pictures in the listing are actually a bit misleading, because they never show you the entire low end of the scale, which is the poorly differentiated end. I did also test a strip against our tap water, which is known to be alkaline, and the strip read about 7.5 to 8. So I do think the strips are probably accurate, chemically. But the color differentiation on the acid end makes that end very hard to read with the naked eye. I would definitely NOT recommend at all if your focus is on maintaining a certain acidic ph. If you just want to maintain below 6, well, these will probably suffice. But if you specifically want to be in the say, 4.0-5.0 range, these won't be overly useful.

Worked for me when following directions
My results matched the professional soil analysis of 7.5-8.0. I used distilled water and left my sample soaking over night. My soil is clayey, so after one minute, I had to dip the test strip in distilled water and also wipe it with a paper towel to see the results. (Coffee filter was not very useful.) I had an easy time reading the results since the colors are differentiated on the base/alkaline side. Mildly acidic results look harder to differentiate. One more row that is sensitive between 5.5-6.0 would make this a perfect product.

Pretty easy to use; accceptable accuracy; cost effective
While using this kit involves a lot more work than the 'push it in and read' type of pH testers, the results are way more accurate than what I got with inexpensive probe-style readers. The cost per test is very reasonable and the instructions provided with the kit are clear and detailed. My biggest hurdle using it was distinguishing the colors on the test strips to compare them with the color key. A larger key and larger strips would have made that easier. While nothing beats the accuracy of a true lab test, for my home garden this kit has been far more helpful and useful than the inexpensive probe readers. Not perfect, but a very workable option to determine soil pH.

Great piece of kit for gardeners
Simple to use with straightforward instructions. Accuracy is spot on and it very quickly showed me why a Rhododendron wasn’t fairing well in the garden. The soil wasn’t anywhere near acidic enough. I would highly recommend this kit for anyone who wants to know their soil PH

Simple and easy to use.
Only used once. I used the AI application, it was very easy and convenient to read the results.

Item arrived open and used.
Item looks like a return sold as "new"... Cardboard packaging arrived torn and deformed, and the bottle inside that house the strips also had it's seal broken.

Works well
Worked really well and easy to use. The two small things; one you need to wait for a result, 2 instructions could be better. Finally, ideally you need distilled water for a better result… but it’s a good product and works em
