I'll be installing this on a ceiling light with no switch. Is there a handheld remote or wireless switch that can be paired with the unit vs. the app?

After installation my dimmer worked as expected for about an hour. Afterwards the device fails to turn off. It flashes off then back on. setting???

Sounds like it lost signal. Mine did that at first, I purchased a wifi extender ad my wifi was upstairs and the light I was controlling was downstairs in the corner farthest away from my router and the switch I had behind my stereo equipment on the floor. After getting extender and connecting switch through it I have had no problems since.
In the app., go into device manager (in menu top lft. Of screen), not under devices but in device manager. In there you will see if your switch is connected to the internet or bluetooth. If no signal, it will not be lit.
Try resetting switch. I have had to reset mine a couple of times since I have had it, ???. But since getting it working it's been great. I have 5 of them in my house and I love them. Really have had no issues once getting better signal. 4 are connected to torch halogen floor lamps ( I like them) and one I connected to a fan to control the speed and to turn on and off. I also run all of mine through the echo (alexa) system for voice control.
I took the power cords from old equipment and and extension cord and cut them in half, wired in the switches and put new female ends on them so I could plug one end into the wall and plug whatever I want into the other end for use with the switch, in my case lamps and a fan. This gave me extra length, I didn't have to cut the cords of my equipment, and I could use them anywhere on anything in the future as needed.
"To reset switch unplug and plug back in 3 to 4 times until light starts blinking." Oh, make sure your light and your phone/controlling device are connected to the same network.
If you use extender any channel seems to work fine as long as everything goes through the same router (example; phone/control device can be connected directly to router and lamp/etc., can be connected to any channel on router or any channel of extender as they are all on the same router. Works for all of my equiptment this way.)
