Great cookbook and can't wait to get to cooking.
This cookbook came today and it is filled with true southern recipes and even has chitterlings which I'd never cook. It's filled with every kind of dish you could think of with a total of 250 recipes.. Biscuits, cakes, beef, pork, turkey, fish, lamb, soups, Hot Dog Chili, Ribs, fried Chicken and even breakfast items. I'm going to enjoy cooking a lot of these. The recipes are not complicated and mainly use things you have already. I can't wait to get started with these recipes and figure out my favorites. I live close to Mama Dip's restaurant and I can say these recipes are true to our area and style of cooking. It's always nice to find recipes similar to your style of cooking and seeing recipes that help you improve on dishes you already cook.

Great southern recipes that tastes like what grandma used to make
This book is very good if you're looking for good southern cooking that grandma or great grandma used to make. Many if the recipes in this book are exactly like the ones my grandmother used. I would watch her make cornbread and various other southern foods from scratch but never asked her back then to write down the ingredients. Now that I am older and she is gone, I long for those good old dishes that only she could make....or so I thought until one of my Facebook friends recommended this book and "Big Mamas Old Black Pot". Both books are outstanding. I purchased both over a year ago and don't regret it at all.

Mama Dip's Kitchen is one of my favorite cookbooks in my collection
Mama Dip's Kitchen is one of my favorite cookbooks in my collection. It consists of an array of soul food recipes for every occasion. The recipes are simple and easy to follow with ingredients that can be found in any store. Her baked bean recipe is my favorite. The only criticism I have is that there aren't any photos. Based on the recipes I've made from the book, it would really shine if there were pictures. Other than that, I highly recommend it.

Mama Dip was an institution
In Chapel Hill NC for years. Her Mama Dips restaurant was very popular. Her daughter kept it open after her death. The restaurant recently closed to concentrate on catering. This recipe book is all that’s left.

Love this book with reservations...
I really wanted to love this book after seeing it on a popular shopping channel. Per her history as discussed on the program , I was expecting an informative and delightful, easy to follow, comprehensive, compilation of down home southern cooking recipes and methods. There were many recipes that reminded me of my mother and grandmothers cooking style. While many of the recipes are fine for the experienced cook able to adjust and understand directions without difficulty, someone new to cooking will find it difficult to follow sometimes. I enjoy the premise of the book and respect Mama Dip dearly. This book will be a fine addition to any cookbook collection of southern cooking. The novice may need to find something more precise and easy to decipher.
