Excellent bedding, minus the springtail pods it comes with.
I've had snakes for 14 years and this has been the best bedding I have ever come across. Absorbs urine/feces to one concentrated area for easy cleaning, no dust, organic, and is a natural looking bedding. However, it consistently comes with springtail pods. These are tiny white bugs that as far as all my research shows are completely harmless to your animals and even consume waste in the enclosure. However you will see them in the water bowl or occasinally jumping around. Yes, they are safe, but may turn away a lot of people. That's why I left off the last star. Otherwise I love this product, despite it's price tag. Note: if you want to reduce the probability of seeing these pods cook the bedding on 200 degrees in your oven. It will reduce the number of them. I did that and got lazy for just 1 bag that I didn't cook and they are right back again.

Great for humidity, smells, and clean up
I use this product for my ball pythons and my crested geckos. It really does absorb smells, it is not hype. I originally started using Aspen bedding for my snakes and repti-bark for my geckos. When my snakes would go to the bathroom I could smell it just walking in the room. Now, I have to search for their specific bodily excretions. Feces and urate will always smell when you are close enough, but the key is that your room isn't smelly. Also in comparison to the repti-bark, the Kritter's Crumble does not leave your room smelling like repti-bark; it does not have a distinct smell. Additionally, my house has VERY low humidity (30%). Now that I have non screen top cages my humidity levels are pretty great, I am no longer constantly misting. My struggle now is having too much humidity when I put new bedding in because it comes out of the bag moist. I am also allergic to almost any other type of bedding: aspen and cypress; I am not allergic to Kritter's Crumble. It doesn't bother my asthma/allergies at all. I have also found that neither the cypress nor aspen shavings have held humidity as well and none absorbed the smell like Kritter's Crumble. This is an excellent product for me, and it is easy to clean.Since the bedding has dried out from initial placement in my new cages I now have a constant mid 50s percentage of humidity once the bedding dries from misting. I only have to mist once a night and that carries me through to the next night. When I do mist the humidity gets to around 74% and it holds it for most of the day. I just wanted to update all of you on the humidity levels that Kritter's Crumble can promote in a 30% humidity house.

Not a bad purchase.
I ordinarily don't purchase my rat litter online, but when I had no way to get to the store due to car problems I started to become a bit desperate. The fact that this product is different from others I've tried in the past was mostly what pushed me into choosing it in particular. When the product arrived I was a bit upset at how small the bag actually was. But, before I got too upset I decided to just dig in and change my boys' cage. Being that the bag was so small, I was much more frugal with the amount I lined the bottom with. I suspected it would start to stink and need a changing after about two days. So far, it's been a week and it's only just now starting to form an odor! This litter is entirely odorless (no coconut smell to it whatsoever). You'll need a good pair of scissors to open the bag as it's made of a very thick/durable plastic. The amount received was less than expected, but you don't need to use as much - and the bag is also easier to store!Four stars. It'd be a full five if you got a bit more product for the price.

My mini holland lop loves this stuff! Feels like he's livin' large
I bought a mini holland lop as a service animal. I am Pentagon Responder and Survivor on disability for PTSD. I have a 4 year old with autism and live in a small apartment so researched and talked to some breeders and my little guy (now 4 mos old) is awesome. I'm writing this because I am as "green" as I can be for myself and my pets / plants. My rabbit loves this stuff - due to the expense I am learning to use it with a natural paper shredded stuff (kaybee something or other but its "virgin" paper so no chemicals) - it absorbs the smell like totally and he lounges on it - I can't even get it into his cage without him being all over it. He doesn't eat it (he's actually a very very picky eater - organic tortilla chips are his treats and yes I know they are bad in large amounts :) but man does he love them - even the bag crackling gets his little lop ears going and him standing up lookin around) I like it because it doesn't smell - it doesn't have chemicals on it and it absorbs smells. If you can afford this stuff I would say go all out for your little bunnies - its livin large for them :).

Hard to find bedding. Love it.
I use a blend of different beddings in my snakes tanks (Pituophis, Ball Python, Boa, Corn Snake) and I love this stuff. Just be sure you feed them in a different area just so they don't ingest any of it. I use a thick pad of moss in their feeding areas and during feeding time, I find them in position and ready on their moss. Pituophis, such as bull snakes, love to burrow and Kritter Crumbles make for fun burrowing.Edit 6/9/2017 So I ran out of Kritter's Crumbles so I went to the store and came back with a bark product, Reptibark. It was wet and kind of yucky. A few days later, my boa won't get out of her water pond. When I picked her up, I found 6 tiny dead mites at the bottom and a live one on her head. I have no doubt they came from the bark bedding. So BIG LESSON LEARNED the hard way. I am confident that I will never have mites from using Kritter's Crumble. Time to stock up.

NOT COURSE.
The image on the package is deceiving. Pieces are less than 1/3rd the size if a dime with lots of long fiber. NOT what I would call COURSE but serve my purpose none-the-less. If I had been dead-set on a COURSE substrate, I would have been disappointed and returned the items (two packages).
