Spanish Short Stories for Beginners: Learn Latin American Spanish Naturally Paperback – October 6, 2017

This book is very useful for anyone who’s trying to learn to read Spanish. The book has short stories written in Spanish with an English translation underneath just in case the reader doesn’t understand one of the Spanish words. If you read the stories consistently you’ll be able to read Spanish in a few months. The book won’t make you a better Spanish speaker but it will make you better at reading Spanish.

I bought this to read on my kindle, hoping to improve my spanish. The stories are pretty interesting, they're not for total beginners but if you've got the basics they cover a lot of ground and are quite easy and fun to read. The translations are interspersed at about one paragraph intervals, which is about right. I noticed a few mistakes in translations and of course, there are probably some mistakes I didn't notice given that my spanish isn't very good. But I don't consider that to be terribly important. The kindle edition is cheap and if you're at the appropriate level, it's an excellent value.

I'm most certainly a beginner in Spanish. If I compared this book to an equivalent English language book, I would guess the reading level to be about 4th to 5th grade. Not sure if that meets the definition of beginner or not. Overall a good learning tool.

This book has been one of the best resources I’ve used for learning Spanish. I started out reading to comprehend, and eventually went back and used the English text to create my own translations and the Spanish text to check my translations. Incredibly helpful in developing my speaking skills.

I have been studying Spanish on Duolingo for a few years and these were my first stories. It is exciting to read and comprehend while learning new words and experiencing new types of sentence structure. I’m looking forward to re-reading the stories for there is a lot, for me, to learn here. The English translations are a very helpful reference when you encounter new words or phrases and the review at the end of each section reinforces new vocabulary. A well planned teaching tool.

The stories were interesting and the use of vocabulary was varied enough that I felt my spanish improved greatly reading this book. Highly recommend

These are great, brief pieces with translation following each. The stories are actually interesting, the dialogue and text appropriate for people a bit beyond the beginner level. There are several idioms in the text which the reader has to figure out but that is probably a plus. And I am finding reading these stories is like eating potato chips - just one more...just one more!In summary, just what I was looking for!

Very good, if you already understand some vocabulary and basic grammar. The stories are interesting and the vocabulary is useful. I know about 1500 words and a few verb tenses, and I am often able to figure out words in these stories that I don’t know by understanding the context. I appreciate that I don’t have to know all of the verb tenses to understand the story. Many stories, good value.

Excellent pour l'apprentissage. La traduction anglaise en dessous de chaque paragraphe aide vraiment à comprendre. Les expressions semblent bien traduite selon les expressions et non seulement traduction au mot par mot.

I know a little bit of Spanish and can sometimes recognise enough words to read a sentence so I thought I would give this a go. It really is a brilliant concept to be able to challenge myself to translate some sentences and then be able to check the English translation underneath. Not only an I encouraged to keep going but I am also learning more words which in turn are helping me to translate more and more sentences. Highly recommended

A very good book for beginners

This book is great for beginners to practice their Spanish skills. I found the english translation and the vocabulary at the end of the chapters very useful. I also liked the quizzes at the end of the chapters. Another nice thing is that the stories cover a variety of situations and vocabulary.
