I felt like I got what I paid for
This skirt is similar to the quality of the kayaks that it is meant to fit. And that is the lower end, entry-level quality. For the price, I felt like I got what I paid for: it fits my Pelican kayak and deflects some splash from going in the opening. However, don't buy it expecting more: it pops off very easy, will not deflect major deluges, and the openings on these kayaks are so large that it holds puddles of water that will build to the point of weighing it down and popping it off the rim. I somewhat successfully am able to slow this effect by raising my knees when going through waves. In summary, it is of some value and I am glad that I bought one, but do NOT expect to buy this and transform your Pelican into a real whitewater kayak or make it "water tight."

Better than expected, well worth the cost
I have a Canadian built entry level touring boat. It's a Clearwater, Venture 124 with a generous opening. Consequently I wasn't able to order an off the shelf prefit skirt. This medium universal skirt by Lavika turned out to be easy to mount, stays firmly mounted with nothing more than the bungee, just as it's supposed to. I mostly use it on calm water lakes and the zipper makes it easy to get in and out a variety of natural landings. I have used it a couple times on San Francisco bay in mostly calm conditions and it has comfortably kept the cockpit dry. I suspect in a heavy chop and with my improvised stays it wouldn't be as dry. But for my entry level use it has proved to be an excellent addition. While not really a one size fits all, with a little thought, little effort it should work very well on a variety of boats and situations.

Meh.
Well, all can say is that I'm glad I don't weight much and my Kayak is buoyant. This skirt is a prime example of 'you get what you pay for'. It's not even close to the neoprene skirts that are essential for white water. That being said, don't take it on any river above a Class ll. If you hold your mouth just right, you can roll a boat without swamping it but you're sloshing around in the wet stuff. It's better than nothing on flat water but not for white water at all (unless you like getting out and draining your boat after every drop)... :l

Great Spray skirt but not for 8' Pellican Kayak
This "Universal" kayak spray skirt should have fit my 8' Pellican Kayak based on the size dimensions. It does not seal around cockpit rim, it slips off no matter how it is adjusted. It seems well constructed, the zipper is a nice feature, material is light weight & appears strong enough but without sealing and staying on kayak cockpit rim, it is useless. What a disappointment, I really wish it had worked. I am sure this may be fine for some kayaks but for anyone considering this item for a pellican 8' kayak I have to warn them it will not work.

it pops nicely with a proper tug on the escape loop
For occasional recreational paddling, it works. Very much a pain to attach to my Pelican 12 footer cockpit. Have been spoiled by neoprene, shock-corded skirts on expedition kayaks. But, just as importantly, it pops nicely with a proper tug on the escape loop.

grat overall skirt
Great skirt water proof, and I relly like the zipper option. But hard to get on and keep on. I had to use double face tape to hold in place before I could tighten the cinch strap.

Recieved defective Product
The quality of the product felt very cheap. The zipper didn't work upon opening the package. Very dissapointed as I was planning on using this for my birthday excursion tomorrow and now I am left unprepared and bummed out. Next time I will splurge on a more expensive/reliable product.

Works great!
You think it's not going to work well because of the zipper but, it does! I actually liked the zipper BETTER! Because I could unzip it all the way and throw it over the edges of my kayak while my boyfriend had to stop on the next sandbar and get out just to take his off and shove it in his drylock. took on a 7 day kayak trip! Worked awesome!
