I love Lucy <3
Brennan does it again! Another fast-paced, well-written, and exciting installment to the Lucy Kincaid series that I simply couldn't put down.Lucy is struggling with some issues after returning from Mexico after the events that took place in Dead Heat while also trying to solve the murder of a Congresswoman's husband. The plot has a lot of layers to the overall conspiracy, which, admittedly, got a little confusing for me at times but Brennan wrapped it up nicely at the end. With the release of No Good Deeds scheduled for November, it's not much of a surprise that the book ended with a bit of a cliffhanger so I can't wait to see how the rest of the story unfolds at the end of the year!Lucy and Sean's relationship continues to grow in this book and it's not all rainbows & roses; Lucy continues to deal with her lingering insecurities and it's interesting to see how that affects her relationship with Sean. It's clear though that Sean & Lucy's love for one another allows them to work through whatever life throws their way. And, I absolutely love how Sean fights for Lucy, especially in the things he does for her that she doesn't even know about.Lastly, Kane makes another appearance in this book, but like last time, I wish we got a little more insight into his character. Hoping he'll get his own book at some point too!

Best yet!
Lucy and Sean have to be one of my favorite book couples ever. More than any couple I remember reading, they are two halves of a broken whole. I honestly don't know how either would survive without the other. I am so invested in this couple that I have trouble putting the books down. I'm sure part of the reason I'm so invested is because I've read all the books related to this series, the ones about Sean and Lucy's siblings that portray all that Lucy goes through and all which makes her who she becomes-a walking shell of her former self. Sean breathes life into Lucy's world and brings her out of her darkness. They are completely perfect together despite their mutual feelings of unworthiness. This story finds Lucy with a new partner working on a case which may be tied to fall out from the events in the previous novel. Sean ends up getting hired to consult on the case but from a civilian rather than law enforcement angle. As always, Sean and Lucy work best by bouncing ideas of each other, but each ends up keeping a few secrets of their own. As they get deeper and deeper into the case, secrets from Lucy's past threaten her hard won stability and may send Sean over the edge.I thought this was the best of the series yet. Though some resolution was achieved, many threads of the plot remain unraveled. Fortunately, I didn't care because the ending was fantastic!

Lucy Kincaid
Best Laid Plans is about a dirty politician, criminal gun runners, dirty DEA agent and a prostitution ring. I love this series and the characters. Lucy has been through a lot but still puts herself in harms way for justice. I really enjoyed Kane Rogan helping with the cases by giving his brother Sean as much information as he could to keep Lucy safe. The case is still not over and I can't wait to see what is in store for Lucy, Sean, Brad, Ryan, Barry and Kane. Exceptional writing, characters and storylines is what you get from Allison Brennan.

Now that is a conclusion and cliffhanger
Lucy has a new partner and they aren’t sure about each other in AB next installment in the Lucy Kincaid series. Kane and Brad are back, which I love bc I really enjoyed their characters. Seeing Kane develop is one of the more fascinating pets of this series because he is extremely complex and should be unlikeable, but he is one of my favorites. Lucy and Sean had some emotional beautiful and gut wrenching moments. I love their dynamic and seeing their individual and joint growth in this series. Each book is intriguing on its own, but this buildup of the character Tobias has me quite captivated! Well written story, fantastic pacing and full bodied characters ; along with high action, intrigue and relationships has this series solidly placed in my top favorites for series and suspense!

Another Fantastic Lucy Kincaid Novel
Oh My Gosh! I love this book. Lucy and Sean are wonderful together. They each have their own strengths, and they work well together, complete each other and love each other so much. The thought processes of the criminals are very believable...and made me wish that Lucy, Barry and Brad could just kill them all. Of course, since they are FBI and DEA they can't. Sean's brother, Kane, probably could, but he tries to play by the rules while in the U.S. Nicole and Elise are just evil, and I would like to shoot Tobias myself. I read this book in one sitting...I just didn't want to put it down. I love the suspense, the family dynamics, Sean's little niece, Lucy's sweet nephew, and the way Lucy and Sean are together. I just wish I didn't have to wait until November for the next one.

You have to be in a special mood to get through this book.
I love love love suspense novels. However, at this writing, I'm at chapter 18, and still not fully grabbed by the story line, or characters.I'm somewhat bored with it now, even though it started out getting my full attention. There are too many players, and situations running into each other, that I can't help but ask myself where this is going. Then I"m still waiting for something to happen. Maybe I'll change my mind and get into it.. I always finish what I start, so I may have a different opinion at the end.

I've read every book in the Kincaid & Rogan Family and loved them. For anyone who hasn't read them
'Best Laid Plans' = 10 out of 5 stars! I've read every book in the Kincaid & Rogan Family and loved them. For anyone who hasn't read them, this will one make you want to go back and buy them all. Gripping, well written, beautifully laid out plots. Heart pounding to say the least.

but probably best you read these two in sequence
She's back! Its been a year since the last novel in the series (Brennan usually publishes quicker than this but she's started a new series (Max Revere, not read as yet) so the wait between books is longer than usual) but it is well worth the wait.Lucy is now established as a (rookie still) FBI agent in a book which is set about two months after 'Dead Heat' which cumulated in Mexico. I expect you could read this as a stand alone as the author does remind us of what went before, but probably best you read these two in sequence. In this novel, the investigation is centred around the unexpected death of a Congresswoman's husband and, as the story moves along, this seemingly random event is intertwined with events from that last (unauthorised) mission.Lucy is partnered with a 'by-the-book' partner Barry and works for a supervisor who 'knows/suspects' that she broke orders to go to Mexico (an unauthorised and therefore illegal op) but cannot prove it, thus tension from a distrusting SAC and her new partner.Sean proves his technical worth as a contractor running a parallel op which then dovetails, RCK features again too.All in all, a complex plot expertly woven by Ms Brennan where blackmail, subversion, prostitution, murder, gun running, drugs and more are expertly interleaved. the book seems to end quite suddenly, leaving us on an edge (even more suddenly as the book includes a 60 page short story at the back so turning a page to read 'epilogue' quite a bit before the back of the book was a surprise) but the next volume is due in November, eagerly awaited by this reader at least.

Definitely gripping - worth the read
This was my first book in this series......can't wait to go back and read the others and look forward to the next in the series! Found it very difficult to put down ..... Even though it was #9 in a series, none of which I had read, there was enough info on characters and obviously previous storyline to allow me to follow the "case".
