Sorry but i don't know what hot bird on a motor home is but the Gumtek set top box needs a terrestrial tv aerial for it to work it will not work with satellite dish. if this is of any help in answering your question.

For pause live tv you need connect USB stick or external Hard disk to the box first and make sure it is in recording mode.
