Rooftop Cargo Carrier 19 Cu Ft, Waterproof Soft Shell Roof Bag

Haven’t used it yet but I tested it out. 2 large suitcases 1 medium and 1 small (all hard case with wheels) and 2 medium duffle bags and an inflatable toddler bathtub (deflated) all fit. I thought I took a picture and will try to update it later with more photos and how it held up when we leave on our trip but it came with 6 straps and the protection mat and a travel bag. The fact that it fit all of those suitcases and bags and still had room is awesome. Will be driving to South Florida and packed for a family of 7. Update: while it withstood high speeds, heavy rains, over 900 miles total, this definitely holds up. The inside does peel off. I had a slight panic because one of the zippers came off and it was not due to misuse it simply came off after zipping the driver side up so thankfully the remaining zipper was intact and we were able to zip it all the way around and it stayed in place. Once you start driving the pad on the bottom bunches up. But it does not cause any issues. We don’t have rails on the top so we had to use the straps for the door and it worked perfectly fine. We used all 6 straps by securing the middle once as well. It wasn’t I. The instructions but I figured better safe than sorry. It stayed in place and we had 4 hard case suitcases (2 large, 1 medium, 1 small) also 1 large duffle bag and we probably could’ve fit another small duffle but didn’t need to. Set up takes at least 30 minutes and we needed to have 2 people and my husband had to get on the roof of our SUV. Maybe not so bad with a car but it takes longer having an SUV with no rails. All in all it was definitely worth the buy and hopefully they can replace it since the zipper broke but we would use it again if we had to. If you have a lot of stuff this is the one to buy.

I wish I would've purchased one of these years ago! I bought the XXL (23 cubic ft) and we fit five folding beach chairs, two large rolling suitcases, two large duffle bags and probably more miscellaneous items inside. We don’t have a roof rack or roof bars, so we utilized the clips that attach to the inside of the door frame. Installation took 10 minutes or less! It was very secured including the velcro pieces that held down the additional slack of the straps. The zipper is strong and didn’t budge, and material is strong and durable. Fortunately I can’t speak on the moisture resistance this trip, but I have faith it’ll do fine in the rain if installed correctly. Great product for the price & looked great on my Nissan Rogue Sport!

I watched the install videos before putting this on the roof of my 2014 Chevy Equinox. I have factory installed racks with cross bars I picked up online. It was installed on the rack. I used the supplied roof protector sheet. This holds a fair amount of stuff. We used it to carry camping supplies. We learned a little bit more each time we've packed it how to do it better. You want to try to make sure the front is as loaded as possible with small swishy things. We found we liked stuffing sleeping bag rolls in each corner. If you have the corners filled out you don't get any noise. We did get some noise the one time as we didn't have one corner as filled as it could have been (it's a learning curve). It seemed to attach to the car okay, but with the buckles being plastic I can't tighten it as much as I'd like at the buckle starts to want to come undone. Better buckles would make this a 5 star purchase. I was able to comfortably travel at 70mph on the highway with this on my roof, with amazingly enough no discernable difference in my gas mileage. My first trip out I tested it from exit to exit near my home with a different vehicle following me. Then started out my trip on smaller, slower, two-lane highways, checking to see it anything shifted every 45 minutes, until I got comfortable. I was much more comfortable on the trip back home. I'm only 5'1" so I had the help of my kids to load stuff up high. We just a two-step stool/ladder and standing on the seats of the car to load up the bag at home. We use the seats of the car and shoved the picnic table at the campsite next to the car for loading/unloading while at camp.

TLDR -- We got the XL. It holds a TON. It kept everything water free. It saps your MPG because you put a square box on your vehicle. But it worked wonders. It's a great quality roof bag and I recommend this product for a cheap way to add a ton of space. We have 5 people in da fam riding in a 7-seater SUV and we are always full to the max with no room for extras. Giving the kids that third row to keep them from getting on each others nerves too much is essential on a long road trip. But that third row seat makes your truck space horrible. With this bag, we were able to fit all the extras and then some. Our multi-day road trip included some surprise hard rainfalls. Our luggage and paddle boards didn't get wet at all. I highly recommend, if you are having water woes, that you ensure the flap that covers the zipper is fully covered, and the velcro parts are attached well. I also suggest you put the proper height contents so the angle of the sides (especially the side facing the front) reach as close to vertical as possible. This keeps the water runoff dripping straight down and not running back up under the flap. Also, I was worried that since my SUV has side rails on the roof (but no crossbars) that somehow this thing would not seal down flush and secure to my roof and allow no air flow underneath. Myth busted...it worked perfect. The little hooks that go under the weather seal of your door frame work perfect. Oh and btw, who knew the weather seal can just pop on and off so easily?!?! Oh yeah, if you hear some humming or noises at higher speeds, I recommend adjusting the left over strap--the extra left over after you tighten it down--to where you rolled the extra up as high as you can and you secure the velcro around both straps (you'll see what I mean). This will keep air from getting in between and making noise. Our MPG probably when down about 5mpg when it was all said and done...this thing is not very aero dynamic. So just expect that. Overall, this thing held a ton and did the job and I am very pleased with the purchase. You will be too.

Cheaply made! We used this for one trip and the rain flap ripped, waterproof coating peeled off, and all straps started fraying even though tied down well. Would not recommend!!

Got this in spring of 2021. Needed extra room for our ford explorer having to travel from tN to IL with two dogs and two kids. The capacity of the storage bag is great - it fit all of our luggage and then some up top. The non-sliding base helped keep the bag from shifting (I also put a sandbag in the front for additional reassurance). The straps flapped around quite a bit even with the velcro so the noise can be a little annoying while driving. I feel like I figured out how to modify the rigging as we progressed and the sound lessened. On the way home it rained most of the trip and it didn't keep al lthe water out but did a pretty good job. It unfortunately started to make the inside material deteriorate and flake off. We recently did another trip this holiday season to Illinois again and it held together well. I did one short trip in IL without much load in the top and the seams that concealed one of the longer straps started to rip off. On the way home to TN we noticed that the bag was flapping a bit more than we were used to and pulled to the side to see that the seam had completely torn the strap cover off and there was now a basketball size hole in the rear of the storage bag. I retied and moved the loose items into our car and then we made it back fine but the bag is ruined. The trip was a bit windy Not sure how I feel about the bag. For under $100 to get two round trips out of it is OK, I was hoping for more. Perhaps I am to blame for tightening the straps too much but its hard not too given the noise and then just the anxiety of driving with a soft shell and your luggage on top of your car.

Worked perfectly! Kept the rain off our luggage, and was large enough to fit everything! No complaints.

A great carry case for the car. I was impressed with how much this bag can hold. Holds up with the wind and rain, no leaks. Easy to install. We have used on my husbands truck and my c-max and it fits fine on each. Straps are long but we just tie them up once it’s all secured.

Bought last year after a camping trip with a roof box that limited what we could take, this product promised toughness and extra storage. It gave us the extra storage we needed but found the quality of the stitching poor, the strip that covers the zip to make it waterproof has torn in two places whilst trying to zip the bag shut, it has also worn a hole in the roof of the main bag rendering it not waterproof anymore and in danger of getting bigger and losing cargo. Didn't survive 1 family trip, very disappointed for the money. Been stored in its bag in the shed away from weather and light until now.
