This Stuff Turned My Lawn Into Ant-Free Real Estate (And Maybe a Spa for Lost Gnomes)
Let me tell you about the day I met Amdro Fire Ant Killer โ the moment my backyard went from Ant-geddon to Ant-alujah. I opened the bag like Indiana Jones discovering lost treasure, but instead of gold, it was granules of tiny ant doom that smelled faintly like โVictory with a hint of grass.โ And folks, thatโs a scent worth bottling. Before Amdro: Lawns of Despair My yard used to be a fire ant theme park. These ants had organized routes, committee meetings, and possibly Spotify playlists. I swear I heard one say, โLeft at the gnome, Bob.โ True story โ and now theyโre gone. With Amdro, itโs like I hit the delete key on the ant population. Poof. Vanished. No elaborate move-outs, no awkward small-talk โ just empty real estate waiting for wholesome activities like picnics and existential existential barbecues. Applied Like a Magic Trick I sprinkled this stuff around like it was confetti at a wedding โ but instead of โCongratulations!โ what I got was silence. The ants didnโt march, they didnโt rally, they didnโt even file a noise complaint. They just left. Quick, efficient, and not a single tantrum. I half-expected a tiny ant union protest banner โ but nope. Just peace. Incredible. Instant Results (Like, Really) It took less time than it takes me to decide what to watch on Netflix. One day ants. Next day โ nothing. I started questioning whether these ants had a secret teleportation skill Iโd never known about. But no โ itโs just Amdro doing its thing like a silent ant ninja assassin. Unexpected Side Effects โข My neighbor asked if Iโd hired a professional ant removal team. โข I now feel inexplicably proud when I walk barefoot outside without fear of ant ambush. โข I texted my buddy, โDude, I think my grass is now like Switzerland โ neutral and ant-free.โ โข I may have whispered โThank youโ to the bag as I put it back in the garage. (Donโt judge me โ respect where itโs earned.) If you want to evict fire ants from their overstay vacation in your yard with speed, precision, and zero remorse from the ants, this is your golden ticket. This isnโt just lawn care โ this is backyard peacekeeping. Iโm pretty sure this product qualifies as a spa treatment for grass and mandatory enemy eviction notice for ants.

Great product
This stuff works. Could not find it locally but Amazon was able to get it to me ASAP. It takes one application and fire ant mounds are no longer inhabited. Easy to just spread in the yard. Fire ants will disappear.

Takes time, but ants are gone
First, this is not a quick treatment to get rid of an individual mound. If you only have a mound or two I would use the orthene powder that doesnโt need to be watered in. It is quick and effective for a single mound. This product is to treat a large area for long lasting relief from fire ants. Last summer I had multiple fire ant bites every time I did yard work. A year later I still have scars. We live on small acreage in a semi-rural area. In the past I only treated mounds. It was a losing battle as you never find them all. I had never treated a large area, but last fall I was so tired of the bites that I decided to give it a shot. I chose this bait because from what little research I did, it seemed the least toxic to pets and wildlife. I bought a few bags and spread at the higher rate for heavy infestations. I washed out my spreader first to get rid of any fertilizer residue as this can make the bait unattractive to ants. It took several days, but within 2 to 3 weeks there were no more ants. I did another application at the lower rate in the spring, and I have not been bitten by a single ant this year. It amazes me as I was bitten probably hundreds of times by fire ants last year. I just saw my first mound since the treatment last spring, so zapped it with a quick mound treatment, but plan to do another application of this Amdro at the lower rate before long. I figure I will do this treatment a couple times a year going forward. It is soooo worth it. Now if there were only something this effective for waspsโฆ.

Not sure if I'm killing the queen or chasing her somewhere else
Seems to work well when treating a small area -- the visible ant hill. They are gone in 24 hours and don't reappear in that spot. But I get new ant hills nearby soon after treatment. Makes me wander if I'm not just chasing them somewhere else rather than killing the queen, as advertised.

This stuff works better than I expected.
This product works very well. The Fire Ant mounds were destroyed. I will use this every time I have ant issues.

This Stuff Works
I live in Houston, TX, and a few years ago I had the WORST fire ant problem in my yard. You can't always see when a fire ant mound is forming because sometimes the top of a new mound is below the level of the grass. Every time I walked through my yard or mowed the grass I would inevitably step in an "invisible" mound and get swarmed, with ants crawling on my ankles and into my shoes, biting and stinging as they went. I would treat the mounds with Ortho or Spectracide, which yes, would kill that particular mound, but then they'd just pop up in a different spot. I did a little research and discovered that these little monsters can dig colonies underground as far as ten feet deep and 30 feet wide! No wonder they would just keep popping back up. All I had been doing was killing one little neighborhood, when the real problem was a whole city. Then I discovered Amdro, and it was a godsend. The worker ants carry it down into the colony and feed it to the queen, who dies and then the whole colony dies out. That summer I used a spreader to treat my entire lawn with this stuff. You have to be patient and allow a few days for the colony to die out, but guess what - I didn't see another fire ant in my yard for the rest of the summer. Now I am an Amdro devotee. I use it to treat my yards, front and back, at the beginning of each season, and I haven't been "swarmed" since. I still keep a bag of Ortho in my garage for emergencies, but I've had that same bag of mound killer for three years and haven't needed to buy more, if that tells you anything. You should buy this stuff. It works.

Works nearly every time a kill a mound.
I've been using Amdro for decades. It is so good that I don't try any others. Maybe 1 out of 20 mounds don't kill on the first treatment, but the second treatment will do the job.

Used to Work
Bought this a few times. First bags worked great...reordered some more and looked different and did not work as well. Not sure if I got an old bag or they changed the formula.

This is the best ant product! I used on Coastal Brown Ants in Australia, they took the bait immediately when I put it down (see video)and after 2 weeks there is no sign of activity. 5 stars
