This review is for the UTK neckband heating pad. I already own the UTK small heating pad and this item was offered to me free of charge as a promotion. I have chronic neck pain and cranioervical instability, along with dystonia due to Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. So I was very excited to receive this offer. I was surprised by the small size and lightweight of the item when I received it. The UTK small heating pad that I use for my back is heavy because of the jade and tourmaline stones. The neck heating pad has eight stones that are the same size as the other UTK heating pad. It is not heavy at all, which I was concerned about because having weight on my neck or head makes my condition worse. It comes with a small storage pouch, which is perfect because I travel sometimes for surgeries and having a convenient small item like this is perfect! The UTK neckband heating pad can be used on more body parts than just the neck: my husband had elbow surgery and it wraps perfectly around his elbow. I also have chronic hip pain and it is nice to wrap around my upper thigh to warm that area. I have Achilles tendinitis and item wraps and see around the back of my ankle securely and comfortably. This item could be improved significantly by offering a portable rechargeable battery pack to power it. Being plugged in is not ideal because I would like to be able to use this on my neck or other body parts on the go. Please be careful to keep fabric of some sort between your skin and the stones it does get quite hot. I usually set the heat to high while warming up, then lower it to medium for long-term use. It takes some time to warm up but boy, when it gets there it is such amazing, deep, heat and warmth and so relaxing. Another significant improvement would be a removable, washable cover. I have a thin neck and I do not care for the edges on the wraparound straps – they are uncomfortable and cut into my skin. I would like to see a different material used. Actually, the fleece material of the storage pouch would make an excellent cover, and I would love to see this item with a separate removable cover made from that material, that would cover the heated area and the straps as well. It isn’t always convenient for me to pull up my hood or grab a scarf. This is a wonderful item I believe it is worth the list price, however again I did have initial concerns that the timer function was unreliable, but it seems to have been user error. UTK - please provide a portable rechargeable battery pack and I will be extraordinarily happy! Of note I have purchased an infrared heating pad from another company and was very very displeased. As far as I am concerned, UTK is the industry leader and I would recommend it based on Price, design, and performance. Bravo for making great products. They help with my extraordinarily painful condition and I am very grateful that I upgraded from a standard heating pad because this is far and away a much better choice for deep heat that really penetrates into the muscles joints and tendons. Deep soothing heat in a convenient lightweight size and shape - I just wish I didn't have to stay plugged in!

Words just cannot explain how healing this type of therapy is!! I started with the lower back wrap for my husband and ended up using it for my own upper/ mid back pain but because of its size I had to keep moving it around so I bought the large pad for myself and my back pain just dissappears. I literally sit on it every night when I settle into my favorite chair. I find it helps with chest colds and coughs...Ive used it for knee pain...pain just disappears when I use it for a few hours. Its truly amazing and I can't believe that I never heard of this type of therapy. Every doctors office should promote their use! The stones are IMPORTANT. I tried another brand that had a style I liked but it lacked the stones and it was no different that your general heating pad that can be purchased at a pharmacy....that one went back to the seller. The large flat pad is great for laying on, wrapping around knees (although if I had a chronic knee problem I would definitely purchase the one designed for the knee). While they are somewhat flexible they aren't super flexible because of the nature of the product and the stones. Hence I purchased the one designed specifically for the neck because I feel it helps beat colds and flu bugs that start in the throat and glands. I wish there was one designed to cover the neck, shoulder and entire upper and mid back and chest! The heat from this is DEEP and soothing. Shoot, I turn it on even when I don't have any pain just because it is so freakishly comforting! When I have a cold I take it to bed with me and either lay on top of it or place it on my chest for a cough. I swear I get better significantly faster and my cough is totally diminished! My honest opinion is that these pads are miraculously healing for everything that ails! I use the large one every single day and sometimes more than once a day...just when ever I sit down it goes on. They are very well designed and made with very high quality materials. These pads are STURDY!

I use it every evening and it had really helped with neck tension. I use it while sitting and also lay with it under my neck while laying on my amethyst infrared pad. It's heavenly. The only reason I gave it a 4 rather than the 5 is I would enjoy it more with more weight. I use a weighted rice cushion on top of this while using it on my neck when sitting up so it actually hugs my neck. Using the velcro closing makes me feel like I'm being choked so I sent use it that way. Other than that I love this product!

After having bad luck buying a microwaveable heating pad that didn't hold heat long, I decided one thst plugged in and gave continuous head would better fit my needs. I had received the larger flat pad of this brand and love it, but wanted something to better fit my neck. I plugged it in and let it sit to warm up. When I got back it had timed out and shut off. I turned it back on and sat with it waiting for it to heat up. I had it on the highest settings and it never got even remotely warm enough. I even had my husband try it and he was shocked at how luke warm it was. The controller is also small and gard to read. The fit is very uncomfortable. Way too stiff and it's awkward to try to sit comfortably with it on. I was shocked considering how much I love the other item I have from this brand. I returned it.

I use this frequently and it does help. However, if you look at the pic, the cord is coming out the back. In reality it's not. It's on the inside which makes it awkward. The velcro is completely useless so, too good it on you either hold it or brace it in place with a scarf or something similar. The way it is shown on the person in the picture is not a position that actually works. The stones on the back get dangerously hot..... they are literally hot stones but with very little to no protection. The good is that it does maintain the heat and the timer is great. The product needs some revisions in design but has great potential

I got the one with the plush fabric on the inside and I find it comfortable to wear. I wish the velcro straps were as comfortable but it's not bad at all. The heat gets very hot so I think anyone would be happy with the three levels. It heats up quickly and the keeps the warmth. Clearly way better quality for the money and I'm very happy with my purchase. The shape fits perfectly to where I need it and I love that the controller and cord are NOT bulky. I don't think anyone who is sight challenged or arthritic(I do) would have problems operating it despite it's small size because there are only two buttons (one for time, one for heat level)with lights that show green, orange or red for the level of heat/time you've selected, green is lowest, orange medium, red highest. Love that the cord is long and it comes with a fabric bag to store all in. I also like that you can just disconnect to cord instead of removing it if you need to go do something. I'm so happy I decided to try this brand! I would highly recommend and would purchase again in the future. Try it!

Times we all just have a really long day and ache every where. This product has helped me so many times. It takes away the stress,muscle tightness and pain in my neck. It even helps my shoulders. Ladies,you need to try this after a long rough day. IT WORKS

Update: after only a couple months of use, the wiring came undone, leaving copper wires exposed. Returned for a refund. :( Original review: I really notice how much this heating pad relieves my neck pain way better than the microwaveable Bed Buddy I had been using, so I love it for that! I'm hoping that this is just because it's new, but it doesn't really conform to the shape of my neck easily—I'm hopeful that the more I use it, the more flexible it will become. The velcro on the straps straight up SUUUUUUCCCKKKKSSS!! It barely holds at all. I'm probably going to have to sew on some quality velcro myself to get it to stay shut. But it works, so I will keep it.
