Yes Germans and others in Europa write the date Day/Month/Year. As to stollen - a good quality stollen as my mother used to bake was typically "aged" in a cool room. It actually improves by aging. For some years now I buy my stollen(s) from one or the other German companies and often enjoy them well into January (kept in a cool place but not refrigerated). I would not worry about the date, just taste it.
