Carhartt Shock Absorbing Dog Leash

Love the quality, very surdy. Love the elasticity and the clasp that allows you to wrap the leash around your waist. The color is Carhart classic color

We are hard on leads. Always being wet dirty and drug across beaches and trails. This thing is incredibly durable. We have done everything to it and it still works and looks new after a year. Also the extra clips allow 2 to be attached as a double leash.

Love this leash, especially the bungee part of it. Gives a little warning so it doesn’t choke my dog when pull him in different directions. Very strong leash.

Works as intended. Looks great on my great Dane mastiff. It does have reflective material on it to, for those of you who walk your dogs at night. Hinges are heavy duty and actually easier to take on and off than the traditional hook.

I have a large dog who has a mind of his own. This is a good leash. The first one lasted several years and this one is my second one. Great brand.

Buyer beware. I am writing to express my concern about the Carhartt leash I recently purchased. The product I received appears to be dangerously defective. I have found that even slight pressure on the clasping mechanism—such as back pressure from a harness or leash—causes it to open unexpectedly. The metal piece designed for thumb operation extends through to the other side, making the clasp extremely prone to disengaging and popping off. This malfunction created a dangerous situation last night. Shortly after starting a walk, the leash suddenly detached from my dog's harness. This caused my husband to lose balance and was extremely frightening. Thankfully, my dog froze when he called her name, and he was able to secure her and carry her home safely. As I have only owned my dog for less than five months, this was a very alarming experience. Could you please advise on how to proceed with a return or exchange for a safer product?

There’s a lot going on with this leash that you really can’t explain until you’re holding it. There’s a doubled over leash section in front of the bungee part that allows you to basically fold up and ‘shorten’ the leash length. It’s helpful for reactive dogs bc the bungee part does give them a surprising amount of stretch and holding in front allows more physical control. I have a harness with a handle which is my preference when wanting dominant control but knowing I have the option with the leash is a good design consideration. It doesn’t feel thick enough to give me confidence I have with some of my other leashes. The neon was extremely reflective in our night walks which is one of my main reasons for purchasing. Overall a good mix of use and innovation but still leaves a little bit to consider. For the price it was an great choice and highly visible

These are incredible, I have the standard 6 foot journey man lead and now will add this to give me 12 feet. The standard lead I loop around my body when walking as we have a major bolter on our hands, if he decides he want to go somewhere he will go and potentially take me as a 220lb training weight. The shock / stretch lead will give me and him some slow down tension rather than a taunt stop.

My dog is very large and very strong, due to this she has broken several leashes. This leash during the 3 months i've had it, has worked perfectly no signs of use, still looks brand new. One small issue is that the metal ring in the middle isn't fixed in one spot, which makes it drag on the ground when the leash isn't extended, However it is not a huge concern.
