This is an excellent replacement, fits perfectly.

I needed a 10” overall latch length to extend beyond the fence post - this was the only one I found. Sturdy construction. Unfortunately, I had to modify the striker bolt installation for my situation due to a 2x4 gate frame instead of 4x4, but otherwise I believe this would be quite satisfactory and easy to install. (I don’t recall if the seller described the bolt hole locations on the striker bolt.). The only small issue I had was the black paint finish was chipped in a couple places - I applied black enamel paint to match. Hope it lasts.

I made the mistake of constructing my fence and figuring out my old latch wasn't dog-proof for my Houdini Huskita. I've liked these kind of latches, but at HD and L they were always $40+. At this price, I had to buy it (I got 2).So the problem with these is that unlike my old cheapy latches, which were ambidextrous, these are made for Hing on the right, latch on the left. I have latch on the left and the other gate is hatch on the right. So I had to install it upside down. I didn't check to see if that was in the description, may it is, maybe it isn't.NOTE: This is MY problem, not the product's problem. Luckily it works upside down, but that put the long handle on the side I didn't want it. Not a big concern. My pool guy was looking for the old latch and didn't see the new one, so it's basically as (non) secure as my old one, but vastly superior. My dog figured out how to open the latch, but he can't push and open at the same time, so it keeps him in.

I hated my gate and rarely used it because the latch was so cumbersome. Then I saw this on some random YT video and new it would fix my issues. Incredibly easy to install. Also, DON'T just flip it over and use it upside down if its shipping orientation doesn't match your needs. Unscrew the one and only screw, remove the spring from the ladle end, flip it, reattach everything. It will work far better this way and will be usable in a more natural way, not inverted.

I bought this product several days ago to replace the old latch on my back gate. The components themselves are great. They're like 1/8th inch steel and reasonably heavy duty. The mechanism is smooth and the latch strong and secure.But the bolts that came with it? You know, the things that actually attach them to the gate? They're terrible...Some genius apparently didn't realize that the wood-boring tips of these bolts should NOT be the exact same width as the bolts threads. In short, the bolts drill out holes for themselves that are then to wide for the threads to bite into the wood.This meant that the first time I closed the gate, the bolts holding the bar to the gate door simply ripped themselves out...I was able to fix this eventually by grinding down the edges of the bolts tips so that they wouldn't cut as big a hole and the send to have worked, but it was a lot of unnecessary and annoying additional work to do so.This product would have been 5-stars if not for the stupid bolts.If you don't have the ability or tools to modify the mounting hardware that comes with this, I would recommend buying your own instead. But apart from that issue, this product is pretty great.

All I needed was the metal tube that goes on the gate and allows the latch to catch. Previous home owners destroyed the last one and never fixed it.The overall quality of this whole gate latch is very nice. Very happy with purchase and glad I went with this one. Fit perfectly.
