Great piercing gun. Easy to use. Comfortable to hold.
I just got this the other day so I don’t know the longevity of it yet. But I used it this evening and I can tell you from the first use it’s the best gun I’ve ever used. Very easy to use. Comfortable to hold. I love how you can start squeezing the trigger to bring the earring closer to the mark for piercing before you complete piercing for better accuracy.I’ll update after a few months.Update: so now it’s a few months later. I’ve taken good care of the gun and cleaned it very well. Still works like a charm. I’ve used it a handful of times since I’ve bought enough it over the period of time.

Sturdy Contruction
This is a very good kit. Made in the U.S.A.. I am glad I did not get one of the cheaper kits. I had no problems with this kit. Quality parts and equipment.

Practice, use the circular earrings
Great diy kit. My tips: watch their training videos on the studex website. get a squirt bottle and fill it with salt water (I just dissolve salt in boiling water and let it cool) and use that to flush the piercing a few times a day and wiggle(over a cup or sink) . I have best luck with that. You’ll get salt buildup, but it can be cleaned off. Don’t go swimming for 2 months. PRACTICE draw some dots on cardstock and just reuse one earring practicing. Mine is very consistent but a little lower than I had expected. Use the rounded studex to pierce. Shaped ones fall out of the gun if you tip it, so consider piercing with rounded and then switching to a shaped piercing stud. Consider giving tiny ones ibprofen first or be prepared to let them wait a day to do the second. Older kids have done fine with no painkiller.Pros: quality surgical steel earrings (they heal best, trust me) with for when one gets lost (they lock tight, but we snagged one). Consistent aim, never jams. Cons- mine pierces about 1 mm low BUT CONSISTENTLY And predictably. Not a fan of the gel afterpierce care. It dries on like a film you have to peel off. Wish it were all surgical steel and not gold plated since gold Is softer and more prone to scratching which can supposedly then create a home for bacteria. Overall, it’s simple, and remember some kids cry having theirs professionally done, some don’t and even piercings done at the mall or tattoo shop can get infected (soooo many stories). It’s an open wound so take care of it. If it snags on a shirt or hairbrush, you may get a little blood. I’ve done 4 so far (2 mine, 2 a neighbors) without major issues and we’ve saved a lot of cash and have had no major issues. Just a girl who went swimming and we had to take the earring out and clean it a few times (I used liquid silver) because it was starting to look infected and eventually swapped her gold one for a surgical steal and it healed up fast.

Sterilized and ready to use!
I got this product because after a lot of research, I found that these included the sterilized pre-packaged earrings like the professionals use. I wanted to make sure that product was sanitary and sterilized to pierce my sons ears. The earrings are all individually packaged and they are dated with an expiration date. All of them are in good condition and they are all good for at least a year (expiration date). I would recommend this is anyone looking to pierce at home. The kit basically pays for itself after one or two piercings. It also came with all the supplies to pierce other people (forms and signs).

A Good Kit, earrings could use improvement
The functioning of the piercing gun is simple enough. The first pair of earrings (that came with the set) that I tried, the earring kept falling out of the gun before I could get it to my ear. I eventually put that set aside and tried a different set (note that I am using the correct size adapter for the earring), this one held in place. I used it to pierce my cartilage. It worked well and wasn't really painful...until the next day. There was plenty of room, on the post, for the piercing, but the backs of all these earrings are so very sharp around the edges. They were making the back of the piercing very painful. I eventually took the back off and made a bandaid spacer to keep the back from touching my ear. It has since been much better, and I am still able to clean the area as directed. I also pierced second lobe holes in both ears with the smaller size earrings. They both are fine (except the sharp edges on the backs). My only negative about this kit is the backs of the earrings that are included. They really need to find a way to make them less sharp around the edges.
