I would recommend this to a beginning especially if they are not sure if willing to buy a more expensive instrument.

For a toy that you can probably swim with this has an amazing sound and is very easy to learn. For the price it was a no brainer. I am learning and enjoying this Ukulele every day. Just make sure you tune it every time you play it.

I bought this as a backup, travel ukulele to my main one. I wanted a resilient ukulele that could get wet or banged around, and not worry too much about it. I really did not need it to sound like the best ukulele in the world, just good enough.The sound really did not reach that bar for me. It misses it by a hair. It sounds so muted and "toy like" most of the time. It does however start to sound a lot better as the strings settle in, but even after several weeks of constant use and tuning, the sound is nothing to write home about.For my uses as a back up, it's a fun little toy to throw in the car or use just to switch things up. For anyone buying this as your only ukulele, do not. Spend a little more and get one of the other brands on here. Donner being the one I've tried and highly recommend.

I only gave 3 stars because the C string has a weird sound. Chord A doesn't sound right. I am planning on buying new tuners and stings to see if that helps. As a beginner (20 months) I will use this around water but feel a little embarrassed by the sound when I meet with the groups. I'll post an update after I put new strings on.

Fun to play, holds tune and sounds great. On time delivery and product was exactly as advertised.

Sadly I am unable to play my "high dollar" ukulele for the Covid patients at our local hospital. Regulations prevent wood (porous fomite) on to the Covid ward. My Waterman (non-porous) IS able to be taken onto the ward and played. The sound does not compare to the high dollar Ukes. It does however sound better than any voice trying to sing through a N95 mask and face shield!*Final noteThe plastic body will NOT cloud when sanitized with hospital EVS grade cleaner. Big plus!

I have a few ukuleles. My grandson 3yrs likes to strum and sing. This Kala Waterman has arrived, I am tuning this fun glow in dark Soprano.So affordable and easy to play. I trust Kala and recommend this instrument for beginners & beach goers.

Beautiful instrument!! I own 2 ukuleles and bought this for my 2 year old after she dropped mine a few too many times while trying to play. I wanted her to have a real instrument that she can grow up with and eventually learn to play, rather than getting her a toy with no real sound. I’m not afraid of her breaking this while she plays along with me. The sound is really pretty good considering it’s plastic. Certainly not the same resonance or sound quality as a wooden instrument, but the durability is really wonderful for this purpose. The glow in the dark feature is actually a fun addition. I highly recommend this ukulele!!
