Pricey - but you can't go wrong.
Solid build quality - I could certainly see using this for decades. The arm doesn't slip out when grinding. Does an excellent job with either a fine or coarse ground. Those who would like a super fine ground (for turkish coffee) can achieve it by just running it 2x. First to get it to a coarse ground and then the second time adjust it to the fine setting. It's a typical extra step with manual grinders that we have forgotten about since we're so used to the convenience of motorized and automated appliances. You'll find this will solve problems with it taking a long time to grind or the whole coffee beans not feeding into the grinder when you start off on the fine setting. It's certainly not the most convenient way to grind coffee and it's probably only worth the money if you plan on making this a family heirloom. In retrospect - I probably should have tried to hunt down a used one. I clean it out periodically with compressed air.

Poor choice
You get a small coffee/pepper grinder that fits nice into your hand, but only has one setting: finely ground coffee beans and, of course, finely ground pepper.Just a tiny detail of great importance not found in its description. Finely ground coffee does result in great expresso coffee, but you can’t use finely ground coffee in a French Press. Finally, if you like coarse ground pepper, not with this little puppy. If you like finely ground pepper/coffee this is a good product.

Blacker than the blackest black.
I'm currently deployed to Afghanistan and while preparing for the journey I wanted to make sure I'd be well caffienated regardless of the conditions. I already had an AeroPress and a means of generating water heater but I wanted to ensure that I'd be able to get fresh coffee without being dependent on power being present. After shopping around I decided on the Zassenhaus. It's rugged construction, compact size, and efficiency in operation has made it one of the best purchases I've made in preparation for my deployment. My fellow Marines chuckled at the amount of time and effort I put into my coffee....until they tasted it. Now they come pleading for a cup every morning.I initially had the grind set too fine and was concerned had damaged the device or it wasn't functioning properly. After adjusting to what I though would be a much more coarse grind, I was pleasantly surprised to find a still had an espresso quality grind and the device functioned properly.I'm sure I'll still get a good amount of use out of this purchase well after this deployment.

The grinder is very well made, but perhaps not so well designed for fine grinds...
Getting a fine grind for a stovetop espresso takes quite a long time as the feeding part of the mechanism refuses to take the beans in - backing it off a little fixes the feed so that it 'bites' and then the grinder is superb (but then the grind is only suitable for french press or peculator). It is a pity, as it is clearly made to last for decades but I bought it specifically to do fine grinds and find it is far quicker to use a stone mortar and pestle.Having said that, there is nothing wrong with the fine grind (for stovetop espresso anyway, maybe not fine enough for Turkish). Personally, I don't mind some enforced Zen experience time (about 15 minutes) and it does make one appreciate the coffee all the more.I would highly recommend this for coarser grades or spices - or for those with patience but I can only give it two stars as a Turkish style grinder really ought to excel at fine grinds.

Great grate
I have now purchased four of these great little machines. I originally purchased one for camping trips to make coffee. Then I got one for the house for the same purpose (French press coffee), bought one to use as a pepper grinder and one as a gift for daughter in law who will be grinding spices with it. So I guess you can say I was thoroughly satisfied. Like any exercise you get use to the grinding effort. The first one has been in daily use for about four years so I can say that it lasts, and probably will last for a lot longer.

Coffee grinder
I can't get this grinder to grind fine, It takes too long and just doesn't seem worth the effort. After using it a bit more, I may change this rating, but I'm a tad disappointed that I must settle for a grind so coarse with such an expensive device.

Good Craftsmanship
Very pleased with this grinder. Well made, looks nice. The last two ceramic hand grinders lasted about 2 years each. I believe this all metal grinder will last for years. Good consistent grind. I use it for French Press and Aero Press. Easy to adjust - slight course for French and fine for the Aero. Can not say how well it will work for Turkish coffee. Have no problems with beans feeding into the grinder. Grinds faster than the ceramic grinder.

Genial als Pfeffermühle
Endlich mal eine Mühle, mit der man nach ein paar wenigen Umdrehungen eine nennenswerte Menge an Pfeffer enthält! Die Feinheit passt auch.

Not happy
Not happy at all with this grinder. With 3 out of 5 attempts to grind coffee beans, between 1/3 and 1/2 of the beans are half ground and stay in the top of the grinder. They do no go through, even after 20+ minutes trying different tricks how to grind them (incl. buying a soft brush to clean up the grinder before, during and after the grinding). At the end, i need to throw those beans and the whole process takes a way the joy of preparing and drink your coffee.Taking into account the price, it is not worth it … :(

Zassenhaus Espresso and Mocca Grinder Havanna, Brass, 041002
To make a long story short: Wow! What an amazing product. But people will complain because nothing in this world is perfect. Here's my two cent: the top cover will wear due to the burr shaft light loose making them rub a little. Solution: well, even thought harder beans will send some coffee shrapnell flying around at the end of the grinding process, the cover does not wear anymore when I remove it.The grind is the finest. I researched, read reviews pretty much everywhere and evaluated the specifications of most manual coffee grinders. There seems to be only one conclusion: this coffee grinder is simply the best. The burr won't quit (I fill it max many times a day, every day). The burr does need a minor adjustement after every 100g (I adjust it after every grind all the way to minimum then give it just enough loose so the burr doesn't eat itself). The result is the finest grind every time. I only drink Turkish coffee. As Turkish lovers know, if the grind isn't fine enough, one's teeth have to finish the job and I will not accept that. With this grinder, the coffee makes a nice "puck" at the bottom of my cup (bowl) and leaves me with a strange and durable smile every time. So I'd say this coffee grinder delivers what Turkish coffee lovers can expect. Also, if compared with any non-manual grinder, this thing is silent and is a nice light rewarding workout.
