Chain Letter: Chain Letter; The Ancient Evil

Good book. Target audience is definitely teenagers, but does not shy away from real world topics like sex, drugs, etc like typical YA novels. If you are a fan of Christopher Pike you will enjoy these books. Not quite good enough for 5 stars. After all, it is the book equivalent to a horror movie like Scream. More guilty pleasure than deep and resonating literature. Characters range from flat and barely developed to more rounded. Story is a little familiar, borrowing some typical horror movie tropes, but is enjoyable.

I started reading Christopher Pike in high school, and now even though I am in my late twenties, still I keep an eye out for Christopher Pike works, as few authors have the ability to suck you in and keep you engaged throughout the whole story as he does. Chain Letter 1 and 2 could easily be overlooked as just another teen thriller at first glance, but as you delve deeper into the story you find deeper meaning, about life, love, friendship, and even spirituality. I love the dynamic between Tony and Alison, as well as between Tony and Neil. Having read these books over a decade ago, I still thoroughly enjoyed re-reading it on my kindle. I still remember the first Christopher Pike novel I ever read, Wicked Heart, and from that one book I was hooked. Please, please, please release all of Christopher Pike's books in kindle format so that I can have his stories with me everywhere I go. I will surely purchase his entire collection if made available!

I have the first addition of this book, it is one of my favorites. However I no longer use that book seeing as it is very old and falling apart. I decided to get this so I can read it as much as I want. I was very disappointed in this because when they updated it they changed things they should have left alone.

I really enjoyed Chain Letter. Honestly, I wasn't crazy about the Ancient Evil. I felt like the story was forced and wasn't crazy about the ending. It was pretty cool to read about the characters again.

At first I was a little bored but more towards the end of the first half I really got into it.I actually really liked this book.Christopher pike is my favorite author!

This was a great suspense. This is the first scary book I've read. I would recommend this book to people who want to be thrilled, terrified, and surprised. Some mature content.

I remember reading the first one a long time ago and thought to re-read it with the second one. The story is a murder mystery type with some supernatural elements. Typical American high school students, whose parents are never around, get into a bit of strife after receiving a series of chain letters. After the not so overwhelming revelation, the second book moves more into the spiritual side that Pike enjoys writing about it. Basically, it is ok for a mindless read but not as good as some of Pike's other stories.

If there wasn't The Ancient Evil, Chain Letter would be an incomplete story, so it is better there is. But it is not the most complete written piece, either, and I didn't like it so much. No, no.Finally I'm done with CP's books. Yeah!
