So glad I bought this... but it broke...and then...
I've had this for about a year now and have only used it to pack a few holiday items. It's had minimal use, I take very good care of it to include keeping it in the original box with the packing material and "manual". The manual is not very well written but well enough to understand what it's trying to say. Unfortunately, there are no troubleshooting steps. The trouble I ran into is intermittent heating. Thank goodness for YouTube! Thank you Troy Learner for demonstrating how to repair it! I can't link his video but it's titled "Fix an impulse sealer that isn't sealing bags - the HOW-TO GUIDE" I had to take one star for that; but, otherwise it's a good investment if you don't mind a little repair work. The mechanism that activates the switch is too flexible and bends away from the switch with pressure over time. As previously stated, I don't use mine very much so it doesn't take much time or effort to bend out of place. Either that or my superpowers are finally manifesting... at age 49. :)

Works like a charm
Using this to seal various auto parts packaging. So far so good. Sealed 2mil and 4mil bags very well as well as some bubble bags. Apparently the knob on the end just controls the amount of time the heating element is on. Had to turn it to 4 to get it to seal the 4mil bags but worked perfectly. I've seen people complain about the light going on and right back off. If you turn the dial up the light (indicating the heating element is on) stays on longer and handles thicker material. Turn it too high and it will melt completely through your material. If this thing lasts it will be well worth the money. I would recommend this item to others.

Not a high quality product.
I have a HarvestRight heat sealer for a freeze dryer. They charge about $130 for a new one separately purchased. This heat sealer may only be about $40 but the quality is terrible. The power cord is very thin. When I put the sealer on full power it only heats for a short time and the width of the seal is very narrow compared to the HR product. To feel secure I had to seal about five times per 7 mil bag to feel secure. How long would it last doing that for how cheaply it is built?? Bottom line, I returned it immediately. I am NOT in the mood to pay $130 for a back up HR heat sealer. I will probably try to find another one that is more expensive than this one. You get what you pay for......

Great Sealer!!
Excellent sealer! It's very safe to use! This Christmas (2019) I made a lot of banana bread and pumpkin bread and this sealed the bags perfectl! because I have *that niece* that'll get into everything when nobody is looking, I tried to close the top bar and seal my fingers, and it didn't. It's not even hot in between sealing the bags. I love it! For bags wider than the sealer, I just seal one half, then the other. Not an issue for me. I also love the heat adjustment. For regular cellophane bags, I keep it at 4.5, and it's the perfect temperature. First bag I did, I had it at 5 (it goes as high as 6) and that sealed the bag, but it also came close to melting it off, so naturally I dropped the temp. This is a great product!! If you get one that's not as we 5 star people say, return it and get another one, because it may be that one batch that's a dud, because this is the best sealer ever!!

Does not heat long enough to seal mylar bags
Even with the adjustment knob turned to maximum, the heat does not stay on long enough to seal my Mylar bags. I have a workaround, which is activating it about 5 times in a row to seal the bags. Not sure how strong the seal is however. This is a serious design flaw that could be easily fixed by the manufacturer. If I were you I would buy a different one.
