tasty and good quality
I do not like the taste of canned refried beans, and I often make my own homemade. But these are great to keep on hand, for when I don't have leftover beans or don't have the time or inclination to fool with that. They taste great, will last indefinitely, and are quick and easy to prepare.

Great price!
These don't have a lot of flavor but I just add a little bit of meat like bacon or chorizo with the grease. Maybe just a spoonful of butter for the fat. I put a little good Redmond salt, lemon pepper, Louisiana seasoning, and few pieces of chopped white onion and garlic salt with some dehydrated rice. This is great for MRE. I bought enough rice and beans for 44 servings, like 44 and 22 for the beans, counting all the rice and both cost less than $21.00, the reason I don't want to buy MREs anymore is because they're so full of hydrogenated oils and preservatives and stuff that I don't want in my body. These are pure good foods. I'm still experimenting with what kind of meat to put, but I did have a can of roast beef with the juices in it, so far those have been hitting the spot. I put a half a cup of rice maybe three quarters of a cup of beans and it fills up a glass bowl and I put the lid on it after putting the right amount of boiling water. So rice and beans are the same dehydrated, if I put in a half a cup of rice and a half a cup of beans I put in a cup of water that's boiling, I put the lid over it and I may have to heat it up again once the water is in it stir it up and then I'll let it sit for a few minutes and it tastes delicious! Oh yeah and both the rice and the beans fit perfect in a 5 gallon bucket with a lid. Great prepping foods!

Master cooking these before you go backpack!
They didn’t taste horrible. But they didn’t taste good either. I feel with a little more experimenting with salt and seasoning they might be alright.

Perfect for Backpacking + Life
I bought these for a backpacking trip and they were perfect for my beans + rice dish. They were so convenient that I am now using them in lunches! They're great because you can make individual portions and don't have to open a whole can of beans. Thumbs up.

Better than canned refried beans
I bought these to bring for meals while backpacking. They work great for that. They cook quickly and easily on the trail. Much to my surprise, I like the flavor and consistency so much that I also eat them at home now. Be aware that the rehydration instructions are for the entire bag, so you need to use some math to figure out the right proportion for smaller servings. A kitchen scale helps. I use 3.75 ounces of dried beans to one cup of boiling water. That makes one serving for me.

Nope- not good
They taste unseasoned and burnt. The Santiago brand is SO good. Skip this one and get those instead.
