Lasko 20″ Cyclone 4-Speed Fan with Remote Control, Black

I liked everything about this fan ! It is actually a replacement for the same model I bought ten years ago but that one finally passed away. So, I needed another fan as a replacement. I was concerned that I might not be able to get another one like it but they had a newer one. I remember back when I bought the original fan I thought I was being lazy when In I selected one with a remote. Well, I am disabled and run a real risk of falls and the remote was a literal life-saver! The capability of this thing is amazing. The box lists the speeds as "Whisper Cool", "Light Wind", "Gentle Breeze" , and "Wind Chill" ! That pretty much says it ! The highest speed ("Wind Chill") really BLOWS ! You can clear a room with this thing … that means smoke AND SMELLS. As for sleeping … it's the greatest ! So, I loved it so much that I paid it the highest compliment. When I wore out the first one (ten-years of heavy use), I replaced it with another of the same brand and model. Buy one ! You won't be sorry !

The remote control didn't work, so I contacted amazon, who said to contact Lasko, which I did. They sent an email to me saying they had received my message and would look into it, and get back to me. They never did, so I contacted Amazon and they said to send it back and they'd send me a new one, but there wasn't any available. So I had to keep the fan, but paid twice the price of a fan with no remote. I even ordered another different Lasko fan, and it's remote didn't work either.

The fan works great, however, when I received the fan the bottom of the box was slightly smashed and the base of the fan had a 3 inch crack in it. Not excited about receiving damaged merchandise. The sensor for the remote is on the top of the fan so if you use the wallmount you need to make sure it's tilted at a decent angle for the remote to register easily. I do like the fan and would purchase again. I would buy it from a store so I wouldn't worry about shipping damage.

I purchased my first floor-model Lasko Cyclone many years ago, when dinosaurs roamed the earth. After years and years of near-constant use in a dirty environment (my garage) it finally died last month. I couldn’t find this same model locally and bought a Toshiba equivalent at Home Depot (3 speeds, no remote) which had a semi-flimsy floor stand and even its lowest speed sounded like a flyover by a military jet. The Toshiba went back for a refund and I found an Amazon seller that offered the Lasko Cyclone -happy day! On its lowest speed it is quiet enough for indoor use and still moves a lot of air. It arrived fairly quickly and in good condition. The stand is very stable, the remote works (although I will likely not use it, the fan is easily accessible), and it’s reasonably attractive (for a fan). Well worth an extra few bucks. I could have saved $20 the remote only works if your on top of the fan. I tried it from 3 ft. away nothing, walk over used the controls on top of the fan and it came on, but when walked 3 ft. away it wouldn't turn off, so I walk closer, nothing, a little closer, nothing, then when I got right in front of the fan, toes within an in. it worked, WORTHLESS.

After a few power outages, this product died after a mere 3 months. That's less than the fan that lasted 5 years for half the cost that I had. Pathetic!Update: After taking the fan apart and inspecting the circuit board, I tracked the problem to a dead fuse. It's simply too weak to handle the load. I put a stronger fuse in its place and the fan has worked fine now ever since.

If you care about the remote feature of this fan, don't buy this product. It's a poorly made remote with very limited distance coverage. And the only thing worse than the remote is this company's customer service...Worse than poor. Completely unacceptable. Companies like this should not be allowed to sell on Amazon.

You have to stand within 2 feet of the fan and aim the remote control right at the fan for it to work. We gave up on the remote and just use the fan.I have no idea what warmth and thickness features are. Sounds like we bought a big steak instead of a floor fan.
